ha, if i'd used the Frixion I'd probably be trying to get black out. the border was yellow fabric so I didn't need that dark of a marker. still haven't tried those pens.

well i got out 95% of the green crayola marker lines. yellow shows it still a bit but not much. I'll see how it looks tomorrow when it's dry.
after soaking, i applied WD40 and liquid dishwasher soap, rubbed that in and washed with Oxy clean again. then next time around i sprayed the marks with Shout Advanced and washed with Oxy clean again. looking so much better. tomorrow is another day. |
I used a purple, broad-tip Crayola washable marker, wet it with baby wipes, rubbed it very well with a Shout stick and let it soak in the washer for a while. Came right out.

OOOOOOOH scary! I taught preschool for too long to believe the WASHABLE designation on stuff, especially washable tempera paint! I'll just keep using the more expensive ones that are made for quilting.....

Yellow in any kind of marking can be a problem. I have used the yellow chalk and it was so hard to remove, that I vowed never to use it again.

Ever try the FRIXION gel pens made by Pilot? They are great marking pens (I've only used them on cotton fabric). The marks come right out with your iron. I found the pens at my office supply store.

i kind of though cold water would help set the colors...when i've used crayola markers i've always then washed...yes...washed...not just soaked but put in the washer...with warm water and detergent...all marks came out. but i always test every fabric i'm going to mark because just because it came out of this peice does not mean it will come out of the one next to it. i don't know that just sitting in cold water is going to accomplish anything

You should--they're great. I've used black pen on yellow cotton--came right out with the iron :)
