I might chance it with transferring embroidery design, if I used the same color of marker as yarn I was going to use. Just maybe, my thoughts today.

I just bought a cute little mini pack of them at Target for $1!

I have a pattern for a small quilt that has embroidered blocks, may try the washables out on this. I am using several colors, so will see how they wash out.

Maggie Muggins, do NOT use yellow. It does not come completely out. Oh, it fades significantly but it never really goes away.

I bought the "CraZart" brand.....about 8 different color markers in a pack for under $2 at Walmart....they work just fine, washes out great....I can say I've never used the yellow, haven't had a fabric to use it on....but the rest work ok.

Speaking of yellow, couple of years ago I was taking a wallhanging class, the quilting was done before hand, it was a diagonal grid, so we used yellow chalk, that left a wonderful line to follow, until it came to washing it, quilted with a metallic thread and the yellow remained, yes you have to be careful with yellow, unless it is light and you are going over it with yellow. That was a huge disappointment, yes I am careful with it. Red, too. I think the first thing I would check is when it is wet if it bleeds all over, that can be a problem.

I've heard yellow. But like has already been mentioned, just test it first. These markers are really a godsend!

Someone said yellow is a problem.

All of our local schools use only the washable markers for the lower grade students. As the teachers say... when the child slips and doesn't stay on the paper...so much easier to clean off the table tops.

Haven't tried them yet but may do so now.
