Creative Grids Pineapple Trim Tool

Hey folks.... I just have to ask... has anyone tried this specialty ruler and had success with it? It's the Creative Grids Pineapple Trim Tool (here it is at Missouri Star: https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop...pple-trim-tool).

I've always been fascinated by pineapple blocks. I saw this tool demonstrated at my LQS and had to buy it... looked sooooo easy when they demo'd! I worked with it yesterday (almost all day long) and it was driving me to distraction! I went through half a jelly roll trying to get the blocks to come out right. My problem is with the corners... it seems to cut off either too much or not enough, which screws up the next row. I'm 99% sure it's "operator error" (LOL) but I'd love to hear from anyone who has used it too.

I have already watched a couple of YouTube video demonstrations (one by the original designer of the ruler and another by someone from a quilt shop). They make it look easy too.

I refuse to give up!!!! :)

I have this tool but I haven't had an opportunity to try it out yet. Like you, I saw the demo and it looked super easy. Now I need to take it down off of my pegboard and give it a try.

I do have several other creative grids rulers and I love them.

I have this ruler but haven't used it yet. I think I'll find it and give it a try.

I have this tool and absolutely love it! It definitely makes creating this pineapple block easy and perfect every time. I've made one pineapple quilt top and a bunch of pillows and square blocks for donations using this tool. I've had no problems with it.
Yes it's supposed to cut off corners and extra fabric since that is what makes the blocks square up perfectly.
If I were you, I would carefully go through the instructions step-by-step to make sure you're not doing something wrong.

This tool be will demoed at our quilt show in June - I've seen it before - they make it seem so easy!

Both quilts are very pretty.

Those pineapple quilts give me HOPE! I will keep on trying. :)

I have read the directions many times, but maybe I did miss something. As I try it again, I'm going to come back here and post pictures of my corners... maybe somebody can look at them and determine if I am actually doing something wrong!

Both of the pictured pineapple quilts are beautiful. I tried the Creative Grids pineapple ruler, as well as a few others, at a class last year...they were pretty easy but I ended up buying a log cabin and snails trail as I had fun with those too.
