Does anybody know how to make a crown royal quilt out of grown royal bags?
I've never made one, but would probably cut out the logo and put sashing between them, or use that logo for the center of some type of block. I think they're flannel so you shouldn't need stablizer on them.
One of our members made one a while back...you might try using the search feature at the top of the page to find it :D:D:D
My daughter made a dress out of them, from what her sister said it was quite striking.
I will ask her if she can get me a picture. |
I have seen several at quilt shows. In fact my cousin is saving the bags for me to make one for him. They are realy beautiful. The logo area was used as the center of the block.
Sorry no, but if anyone needs help to empty them, let me know
I have that under control : O) but thanks anyway :D

I've got a big trash bag for of Crown Royal bags, waiting for the drinkers to tell me what pattern to use. They seem to want to use the whole bag and I haven't figured out how to do that yet.
They CR quilt post on the board is a braid pattern, It is really nice. |
Go to google...
Put in Crown Royal quilts Hit Search... Viola!!!! Several options! K |

I made a flannel quilt out of Royal Crown bags for a benefit. I don't have alot of knowledge on attaching pictures for my messages so if there is someway I can get you home address I would be more than happy to send you a photo. Then I also made a large over stuffed pillow to go with the quilt as I was given so many Royal Crown bags.

My friend Rose made one. Photo attached. She used the logo as the center of the star and coordinating fabrics (I think she used ferry frost).

My friend and I made one last year. Used the larger bags, and made 4"x4" squares. You need to use Pellon backing on the felt. I have attached a picture. We used yellow flannel on the front and purple flannel for the back. The quilt really was wonderful, but don't think I want to try another one anytime soon.

We used about 175 bags, did not have enough of the right size and had to buy extra off of ebay - came up with special Nascar bags, which was perfect because the quilt was for a friend who is a Nascar fan... I used my 4x12 ruler to make sure that the square was centered around the logo and cut out front and back at the same time. It felt like I was cutting bags for almost all of last summer. Here is another view.

I just made a crown royal quilt this winter for some folks that had saved a bunch of bags, and a freind of a freind referred them. I made it in the Drunkards Path. It was adorable. If you have any questions I'd be happy to help.
How big did you make it?
this one is really cool do you have a pattern for it? If you do I would love to have one !
Well it just might be worth it that crown royal goes down smooth but kinda expensive
I'm pretty sure it ended up at 80x80, the drunkards path blocks were 6" x 10 across & down then I added the 2.5" white border then an 8" outer border. I didn't have a pattern but I do have it saved on my EQ6 program. I could send you as much info as I have and the templates. Just let me know, by the way, I appliqued the curved pieces it made it much easirer.
I'm still concerned about washing it- did you pre-wash the bags or does it need to be dry cleaned? Thanks in advance, Deb
LMBO hehehe thats great my SIL has quite a supply of these bags and this is a great idea for them!
