Curious. How many of you have your own long arm machines?
Hi All-
I am curious, but how many of you have your own long arm machines for PERSONAL use only? I see there are some nice specials on the web right now and its tempting. Just wondering. JC |
I have a midarm. It is an HQ16. I would love a long arm!
I have a Ken-Quilt. I've had it for sometime. Quilted 3 on it. I don't have any time left at the end of the day. I'm 82 and still cook a "Sunday" dinner every day. We office in our house and oh brother! Anyhow I have a good one. I have 5 tops to quilt of my own. Someday.

i have a juki 98Q on a hinterberg frame. it takes up a lot of room, but is sooo worth it to me.
I have a viking 18x8 on imperial frame, love it, it is so worth it to me!!!!
I have the HQ16 and would not be able to hire all my quilts sent out.
I have a Tin Lizzie 18LS, if it wasn't for her, very few of my quilts would get finished. Love it.
I have a Baby Lock Jewel (same as HQ Avante).

I have a Tin Lizzie. (love it)
On my wish list !!!!!
I have a Tin Lizzie 18 for my personal use. I piece probably 30+ quilts a year so could not afford to send them out. I also have arthritis in my hands and have had surgery on my right hand so can not hand quilt.

I have a mid arm Pfaff with a Grace frame
I have a Viking Sapphire 830, with a 10in bed, on a Grace Mini Pinn frame, set up in crib size, & I love it! Sure beats doing one without a frame!...
I have a Gammill but I also quilt for others...and she's a very, very good machine!
I have a Tin Lizzie that I bought just for my personal use. I work full time so I don't have time to quilt for others. However if I ever get to retire and feel that my work is good enough, I think I will try to do some quilts for extra money.
I don't have one and I don't want one! I do my quilting on my 15!

I had a long arm and sold it! Just took up too much space, I now use a sweet 16, its' a sit down machine but I can do a king size quilt and it is much easier, I've had knee replacement and hours of standing just killed me!
I have a Pfaff Grand Quilter set up at home on the Next Generation frame. ( thus my name Luna grand quilter-not me a grand quilter). We are in Arizona till end of March, and this year soooo excited to get home as we purchased a used Viking 18.8 and Imperial Frame in Californie. Yeah!!
I don't have one but my mom does. She lets me use it when ever I want to.
I have a mid arm and so far only use it for me. Wish I had better control for others :)
I wish, babylock crown jewel would be my dream
I have a Tin Lizzie 18 love it only do my own on it but have been having fun teaching my 11,9, & 6 yr old's grands to use it, Just wish I had more room so I could set her up for a king or Queen.
Don't have my own, but I do rent time on one at a local quilt shop. I don't think I would ever quilt enough tops to justify buying one.

Me neither. I'm happy with my $88 Wally World Brother Special. I'm not real big on the heavy quilting that people do with the long arm machines. Sorry just not my thing. If I add another machine, it an treddle |
I have an Avante (mid arm) and absolutely love it.
I've got a Handiquilter Sweet 16 sitdown mid-arm. Love being able to have the space to quilt easily, and it is strictly for my own use.

I have an HQ16, and I love her! Such a convenience. Wish I had the computer screen thing with it tho. But I am very thankful for what I do have! :)
I have an HQ Avante 18 - I love it - I wish I was better at it.

I have a APQS Mellinium that is just for my own use although I wish my girls were interested in learning to quilt before i'm too old to teach them. Maybe one of my grandaughters will. Doing quilts for others is too stressful, it's not my cup of tea.
I'm working toward getting one!! I'm not too far away now. Can't wait!!
I bought a Gracie frames and a Janome 1600 machine about 6 years ago. It more then paid for itself. It worked best for me to just meander with it. Had someone want to buy it and sold it as a unit. Now I have a Viking 18 x 8. Think I will like it. Just having a few problems with it.
No! I don't quilt for others, althought I do let a few friends use it from time to time. I really want this to be a hobby, not a job. |
Viking 18.8.
APQS Lenni for me. Love it too. It's an 18" throat but lately I wish I had more. Have done a few for hire, but it is stressful. I'd rather write another book.

I have a Tin Lizzie 18LS that I purchased a year ago, and it's for my personal use. I have no desire to quilt for others. I've done it a couple of times as a favor, but it makes me too nervous. I'd rather just quilt for myself. :)
