I call mine the junk room. Haaaa;)

My sewing room is usually referred to as my room. Husband only comes in to fix or make something for me or to ask what I want for dessert.
My Shih Tzu Dusty sleeps out there, because we don't appreciate being awakened at 1:30 A or before 4:30 A. He usually sleeps all night in there. He has heat in winter and A/C in summer.

I find a lot of my southern friends call their sewing rooms studios.

My DH calls it "your playroom"

I call mine my lab.

I simply call mine "my happy place" because I love my time spent there happily creating quilts.

I love this thread! Mine has always been called the "craft room" because you might find me in there quilting, sewing, making cards, jewelry or some type of mixed media art. Sometimes though when too much is going on in there, we refer to it as the "Crap Room" because of the mess! :p

My sewing/craft room has officially been dubbed my "Hidey-Hole" as my sweetie claims I can hide from him for hours in there. I admit I do often lose track of time but I don't intentionally hide. At least not very often.

My sewing room is what used to be the 'dining room.'
If I called it a studio I would feel like I had to say it used to be a 'dining studio.'
My cooking ability is average at best and doesn't earn a dining room, let alone a dining studio!

My interpretation of sewing room vs studio just raises the level of sewing to more of an art and many people that sew are really fearful of being artists, which they indeed are. Why not raise the level of what we do rather than saying I sew. Creating quilts in a studio has more richness and sence of quality to it and isn't that what we all strive for. Even if our studio is the dining room table it is still your studio where you create art. If we say we are successful and act in a successful way we are more likely to do be more successful in all we do.

It is not hoity toity, snobish, or being better than others.

It is a state of mindfulness and allows me to perform better.
peace
