curve master
 

Has anyone used the curve master presser foot. I am having a hard time with my large apple core pieces. Not so much hard but so slow going I won't ever get it together by Christmas. They are expensive but would be worth it since I don't even have 1 entire row together yet and the border which is half pieces so that you end up with a straight border.

I had read other threads regarding this subject. You might want to try doing an advance search and read what has been posted before. Good Luck. I'm eventually going to have to learn to sew a curve too. Not looking forward to that.

I've just finished an apple core without the use of a curve master. I did find it tricky to begin with, but I soon got better, quicker, and made less mistakes as I went along. I just watched a youtube video of someone using the curve master, and it did work...but I don't think I'd feel too comfortable using it. I hate using pins, but I really enjoyed making the apple core quilt, despite all the pinning!

I have one but haven't used it yet, but I do remember when it was demonstrated that the teacher said, "Lift and separate!" She made a joke of it saying like you do when you put on a bra. So if you lift the fabric and separate it, I guess it will go easier.

Although it is a gentle curve you still have to sew slowly, a few stitches at a time with needle down making sure the edges are even. I suggest you pin the centers,each end and then begin. But you can't "speed".... Enjoy the process! Curves are no different than straight seams as long as you don't rush.......

I have used it. My first attempt didn't work well. It was smooth sailing after that. It gives you the guide to keep the 1/4 seam thru the curved seam. I would recommend it for curved piecing.

Since I was doing a lot of outline stitching around designs on wall hangings and having to go soooo slow to follow the pattern, I decided to splurge when Bernina had a sale on attachments. I got a #55 roller foot. I haven't been able to use it yet, but all I read and viewed about it seemed worth the $.

I use my 1/4 inch foot with the guide on the side. I keep the curve of the fabric against the blade and lift the top piece of fabric as it goes under the needle. Watch the curve master video and then try it with your 1/4 inch foot.

I also have one that I have never used-looks easy in the videos-key is slow sewing
