Curved safety pins for basting

Can anyone recommend smooth, sharp safety pins for basting a quilt. I just bought a new box of Dritz pins and they are horrible. I only pin baste, so please help.

Look for pins made in Japan. They are the best quality. The points are thin and sharp.

I'm with you, I don't care much for the Dritz pins, they seem to have a rough surface that catches. I found that nickel-plated pins glide smoothly through fabric like a hot knife through butter.

I agree with the nickel-plated pins. In addition, when I was pin basting I used a Kwik Klip. It really saves your fingers.

I buy the ones at Walmart. I've had them for years and they are still sharp

I bought my safety pins a at LQS years ago and they are the best. That is where I would go and see what they have.

Jerudy- I am also a pin-baster. The best ones I have found are called "Quilt Safe". They are smooth as silk to use. "Curved Basting Pins, Size 2, nickel-plated brass." Easy to use. I saved the package so I can be sure to get the same brand if I need more.

I use large safety pins from Walmart. I use about 100 on each small quilt I make. I have enough to do at least 7 or more quilts.
