It's not the same type of glove that you use to FMQ. But, I'm not sure why you can't use the F&P glove for FMQ if it weren't' so bulky. My quilting gloves fit much better than my Klutz glove.

FMQ gloves also have to really grip. I'm not sure I could even do it without them.

Yes. I have arthritis and really don't think I could quilt without those gloves. I don't think those F&P gloves completely reflect cuts but they do deter them. They offer a minimum degree of protection to give you time to move away from the blade.

I also always close my blade in between cuts. I do not wear the glove and have never cut myself in 15+ years of quilting and using rotary cutters. A friend of mine warned me once not to use your cutter with bare feet which I try not to do as the thing might fall off the table and land on your foot.

Don't see the need for a cutting glove if one is careful. You don't see Norm using "safety gloves" on This old House. ;) LOL

I do use my cheapy garden gloves with the rubbery palms for FMQ.....I like the better control I have with moving the quilt around.

No I don't use one and don't plan on using one even if I do cut my hand or fingers. I don't like to use gloves in the garden either. I love to feel the soil, pebbles etc but not the earth worms. :P

I agree, as I don't think I've ever watched one of their programs where they didn't make some little comment to promote their items.

Well, they are business women after all...

No, Norm does not wear a glove on this old house but just take a look at all the cuts and nicks on his hands!! He should wear gloves

custompolz 01-30-2011 08:59 AM

I don't know anybody that wears them ... Fons & Porter sell the "klutz glove" and I think that is why they wear it on the show. To get us to want/buy them.

This is the only time my Fons & Porter Klutz glove is used: when my daughters cut. This is my youngest daughter squaring up some fabric for microwaveable rice bags.

I don't use gloves, but I teach sewing in high school, and I have my kids use the gypsy gripper when they are using the rotary cutter. It grips the ruler and keeps their fingers out of harm's way. I taught for years without it and spent a lot of time silently freaking out. Now I can breath again!

Nancy Notions sells them if you want to see what they look like.
