I'm on a VERY limited budget and was pretty excited about getting the cutting table at JoAnn's with the sale and extra 25% off, BUT, all went well while putting it together, UNTIL it came time to put the hinges on. I'm no slouch with tools, so I really did know what I was doing. The pre drilled holes didn't match. I should have checked all of the before I started, but didn't. My table is horrible and I'm thinking of loading it into the car today, assembled, and taking it back. there was also a gouge in the top. Maybe that is why they were on sale...

lindy-2 03-29-2011 05:36 AM

oh thats lowsy yes take it back

Raggiemom 03-29-2011 05:37 AM

I don't blame you for wanting to take it back.

lynnie k 03-29-2011 05:39 AM

I would take it back. even at a discount you should have a better table than that. Take it back.

icon17 03-29-2011 05:40 AM

Take it back!!

Tussymussy 03-29-2011 05:40 AM

Not nice. I would take it back to as it is not fit for the purpose.

Lori S 03-29-2011 05:42 AM

IF there was nay question as to the quality/condition they should have sold it "as is" . No excuse , on their part .. take it back.

mommamac 03-29-2011 05:43 AM

definitely take it back - I got that type table maybe 8 years ago & it works fine. You must have rec'd a lemon or quality has declined over the years!

QuiltnNan 03-29-2011 05:45 AM

the store should tell you that it is on sale due to defects. otherwise, i would expect a perfect product. i'd take it back.

champagnebubbles 03-29-2011 05:48 AM

Mine was in great shape, even on sale. Take it back!!

featherweight 03-29-2011 05:55 AM

Even after all your time and tears. I would take it back. If you still want one make them take it out of the box and see if everything is ok. I purchased one about 8 years ago and it was great. I guess their workmanship is far below standard now. Sorry you spent all that time to put it together...

feffertim 03-29-2011 06:44 AM

Take it back for sure.

greenini 03-29-2011 06:44 AM

I would take it back...and maybe check the new one before you get it out of the store. My DH didn't realize that the clips on the underside were set where they were so you could slide the legs in so I have to lift mine a bit on one side to get it into the channel, but no biggie. Just a mention if you do replace it, I assume they are still made that way.

Jamiestitcher62 03-29-2011 06:51 AM

Yea, it seems that everybody who has this table that bought it a few years back definitely got better quality than they are offering now. Too bad, cause it was a nice table.

It does seem that way. My two have been workhorses for years - and I'm not gentle with them.

I mentioned on another thread that I did replace the smaller hinges with piano hinges - made them even stronger and more durable for under $20.

sueisallaboutquilts 03-29-2011 08:48 AM

Maybe it was just a bad one. I've heard many people rave about them.
Sorry for all your trouble though!!

rannyof3 03-29-2011 01:37 PM

Okay, I took it back and got my money back. the JoAnn's here is great and the gals are friendly. I'm going to go a different route. Maybe make one out of plywood, but will have to wait. I spent the refund on gas. Dang.....

jbud2 03-29-2011 03:31 PM

I think you got the lemon!

jeanneb52 03-30-2011 03:15 AM

Take it back...mine is just fine and I am not gentle with it.

Boxer mom 03-30-2011 03:33 AM

I bought one back in November and had some of the same issues. I'm no stranger around tools and how to adjust so I made new holes so that things would match up. I would take it back and ask for another one and this time have the table match up and adjust the holes. If you have a guy (or girl) friend who knows how to fix wood things maybe they can come over to help. Good luck!

quiltbuddy 03-30-2011 03:33 AM

I looked at an Ott light at JoAnns the other day that was deeply reduced. They told me there was nothing wrong with it, just a return with a beat up box. They said it's not returnable so I assembled in the store and the neck of the lamp was broken. Why would they try to sell something like that?

FloridaQuilter 03-30-2011 03:35 AM

I agree with everyone else. Take it back. They start to wobble after about 7 uses plus you can never get it tight again.

Hattie 03-30-2011 04:03 AM

They will be happy to take it back and give you another in return. Where I live in Pa., they couldn't be mor accomodating.

cackie88 03-30-2011 04:08 AM

Items go on and off sale all the time and never because they are damaged or seconds. When things are damaged they sell at 75% off so if you can make it work I would ask for the additional discount. And yes nothing, even at expensive stores, is made as well as it used to be.

19angel52 03-30-2011 04:38 AM

definitely return it....good luck!

Lynn S. 03-30-2011 04:45 AM

I just bought that table last Friday on sale with the additional 25% off and it is WONDERFUL! I took it right home and put it together myself in about 30 minutes. Everything matched up perfectly, no scratches, no problems at all. I couldn't believe how good the quality was especially for the price I paid. And the height is great and will really pay off when I am cutting material.

romanojg 03-30-2011 04:56 AM

I just bought this last week. The only thing when putting the hinges on is that you have to only screw them in part ways and once they are all in then tighten them up. The only thing that I did wrong was put the wheels on wrong. This only matters if it's folded down; something that I'll have to fix; eventually. I would take it back due to the gouge if nothing else. I almost took mine back but I'm going to wait until this weekend to try and cut on it. I'm only 5' and it looks like it may be too tall for me to cut on; we'll see. This table did get good reviews but like everything else there are lemons. I paid 69 for mine so that was good. How did you get the extra 25% off? I thought if it was on sale they wouldn't do any extra discounts.

Hen3rietta 03-30-2011 05:00 AM

Just because it was on sale is no reason to accept a used or defective product. If it was clearly stated that that was why it was on sale that is different. I'd just take it back and they will either give you another one or refund your money. If you get another one, I'd have the clerks unbox it there and check the surfaces. I've had to do that with some Ikea stuff as well. It's a pain, but making two and three trips is also.

juliea9967 03-30-2011 05:21 AM

I would immediately take it back. I don't care if it was on sale, it was not listed as defective, and it is!

Do all of you have same thing in the Main {discussions} as the Pictures part. Mine is double of every thing ,an cant get into all of it. JoyceJ

Thea 03-30-2011 07:45 AM

I purchased one in January and have not had a problem with it. You should bring it back and open another one in the store.

brightstar_202 03-30-2011 08:23 AM

sometimes things go wrong and it is not their fault. They will take it back and replace it. I had trouble with one and they exchanged it for me no questions asked.... If you explain the problem they will make it right. Sorry you had trouble with it though as they are really a nice table for the money. Don't forget your reciept though......

patski 03-30-2011 08:36 AM

Mine was awful too. Got rid of it after a year! Take it back

PS Stitcher 03-30-2011 08:51 AM

I had the same problem wiht my table having holes in the wrong place. If my husband didn't have a welder to make a new piece, mine wouldn't have worked.

Big Red 03-30-2011 08:53 AM

I have an extra one where are you at? I am in the North Bend area of WA.

I saw those on sale when I got my refund check. Kinda glad I didn't grab one. It would definately go back to the store.

ndgirl 03-30-2011 09:12 AM

I had one of those several years ago and found it was not sturdy enough to cut fabric on so I sold it. This past winter I bought one from Walmart - about 30X72" - well, about the right size for a twin size quilt when I added s second one - made it 60X72". They were about $40 each and it's been the best investment I've made in years. They easily fold down, take very little space and are quite lightweight. I'd NEVER go back to the one from JoAnns!!! Just my 2 cents worth......

grannypat7925 03-30-2011 09:14 AM

Yes take it back and demand an adjustment!
