I have a rule in my sewing studio. "If it falls, let it go" Hands in the air, and let if fall. Quilting is supposed to be fun, and major injuries are not in that category.

Oh I know how you feel. I dropped a pair of sharp pointed scissors and they landed point first (of course) gaashing my foot. I grabbed at the only things in the room that I had to stop the bleeding while I drove to the ER for 18 deep to surface stitches. Everyone there got a big laugh! I had a maxi pad to absorb the blood held tightly in place by duct tape wrapped around my foot. The doc laughed, but gave me credit for creative use of both items. They took photos when they stopped laughing and sent them to the tape manufacturer. I ended up with a complimentary box of a dozen rolls of duct tape, and am remembered by everyone in the ER. You'll not make the same mistake again hopefully.

Do you know if this is standard procedure? I was in the hospital earlier this year with chest pains. They stuck me so many times I don't remember if I got a tetanus shot!

Well, now I'm afraid to go to my quilting room. I'm afraid I'll do something bad. Ha.

Men love women with scars, or is that the other way around!

Ouch... sorry you are hurt, I hope it gets better soon!
I did something similar when I was changing a rotary blade..... as I dropped it, I automatically put my hand down and caught it.... nearly cut the top of my thumb off!!!!!!! Won't do that again. Hugs Caroline |
I knocked on wood after reading the awful things some of you have experienced. Hopefully nothing will happen in my sewing room!

Mine has been a sharp pair of scissors. Are we in too much of a hurry?

I did the same thing but with a razor blade. I have a new scare noe. One on each leg.

Last night I was using my seam ripper to remove some stitches. I laid it down on my sewing table and knocked it off onto my lap. Natural response without thinking I put my knees together to catch it and it caught between my legs. I stabbed the inside of my leg badly. Managed to stop the bleeding finally with my husband's help. I was lucky I didn't get the main artery in my leg. Sure hurt. I won't do that again.

I got my tetanus shot last week. Who knew. Healing fine but have a beaut of a bruise. Thank you for all your kind comments. I like the idea of a towel across my lap. Will use that one. Thanks. Hope all of you stay safe.
