Uh oh! I can't help you here! When I make something with that many points
in the center, my best friend is a large button or yoyo to make it all better!
I'm sure you'll get much more expert advice from someone soon!

I trim the corners before sewing, less bulk.

Are you measuring exactly??? Now....after checking that -- start a new one...(smaller will help you learn).

first -- where did you get the pattern? Not to put any site down, but I've found problems with some on the websites for patterns.

When you sew -- do NOT stretch your fabric. If you remove stitches, do NOT stretch your fabric. Sew two "blades" of the star together, then two, then two, etc. Now sew 2 of the doubles together. Then sew 2 more of the doubles together. You should have 2 pieces...4 blades each. Iron the seams in one direction. It helps me to lay the pieces on the ironing board as if they're a whole star, right side down. Iron CAREFULLY - do NOT stretch! Now sew the two pieces together.

I cannot stress enough to NOT stretch!

Good luck!

thnk you so much i think i did strech when i had to take out seams. other wise i did do it as you suggested. i guess i will try, try, try till i get "it"...

Press each stage carefully. One tutorial I watched showed stitching just outside of the point - it allows for the turning of the fabric and makes the points just that much sharper.

I do mine in stages and I just finished 12 blocks. I sew two of the diamonds together with the square for the corner, set them aside and do the next set. I do this until I have them all done, then I press and add the triangle then put two of the sections together and add the second triangle. Then I lay that half block aside and make the rest of the sections into half blocks. Finally I sew all the half blocks together and I'm done. They don't always turn out perfectly but close.
