Are you laying the ruler with the line on the fold, with the starting slot down below where you insert your rotary blade? Where you end the cut show extend past your fabric also. I noticed on the demo video that the lady was running the rotary blade all the way to the end of the ruler, not stopping when she got through the fabric.

Please someone out there help me. You are all raving about this ruler and I have no idea what it is??? Could someone please let me know what is called(what type of ruler) and why and what you do with it that is different from other rulers. I can't figure it out from the photo.
Thanks, Helpless in Garnet Valley, PA

I can't thank you enough. I watched the video and what a great idea. I never knew this ruler existed and now I am determined to have one. Without your sharing and everyone else's input, I would be older but not WISER! Thanks so much.
Diane - Clueless no longer

Well, not am I older and wiser now, I am also poorer. I just ordered the 2 bigger ones from nancysnotions.com. Of course I had to order a couple other things since I was ordering.

newfie 03-02-2011 03:24 PM

i just love the one i have.

martyquilter 03-02-2011 03:39 PM

Wow just watched the video.. I think I have one of these rulers somewhere!!! gotta go find it now!! thanks ladies

Olivia's Grammy 03-02-2011 03:51 PM

But there is a line for a 1/4" add-on. Suppose you want to cut 2 1/4" width. Line up the edge of your fabric on the "dashed" line to the right (or left) of the "0" slit then cut at 2".

Dakotamaid, what a good idea! Thanks

All I can say about this to myself if "DUH" Why didn't I think of that. What a great idea. I usually get the smaller one when I need to cut 1/4".

Sorry but I don't get it. What is so different about this ruler? I can't see by the pic what I am looking at.

nevrn 03-02-2011 04:04 PM

I just got the larger one, and I love it for cutting strips! I won't have to invest in a strip cutter for my Go Baby now.

kathyquilter34 03-02-2011 04:44 PM

Sue please post a picture of one of your blocks when finished..your fabric is out of this world..beautiful..

I have the June Tailor Shape Cut Plus (can make 1/4" increment cuts with it) - love it!

I have used mine from the beginning and could not begin to think NOT using it. I turned my sweet quilter neighbor onto it and she is in love. one of the best tools ever designed. I have to say if you are doing diamonds then get the diamond ruler as well. IT ROCKS.

kimg 03-02-2011 04:58 PM

I have 2 sizes and love them both. The smaller one has slots for quarter cuts. I prefer using the larger one, though because it will cut longer strips. Shape Cut Rulers ROCK!!!!

kwendt 03-02-2011 04:59 PM

Yes, they ARE wonderful! But be on the watch for the Shape CUT PLUS! It's just a tad bigger, and it handles the folded yardage just a bit better. I have the regular SC like you do, and it's my 'goto' tool if I'm doing anything with strip quilting....

desertrose 03-02-2011 05:14 PM

OH NO, something else to add to my newly acquired tools...LOL

Have fun spending your Birthday Money Girl friends

grandma anna 03-02-2011 05:19 PM

Love the fabrics.

Katz13203 03-02-2011 05:31 PM

I love mine

Lucy90 03-02-2011 05:42 PM

I have one and use it a lot and love it. It is worth the money with a coupon or not

Gabrielle's Mimi 03-02-2011 06:25 PM

I went on a trip to Quilt in a Day over the weekend...what a great trip!!!! Anyway, Eleanor Burns demo'ed the bigger version of the Shape Cutter ruler and also the one that cuts strips on the bias. If you ever get over to the San Diego area be sure to stop in for one of her classes or just to shop. She has TONS of fabric on sale racks for $4, $5 and $6!!!! I bought other fabrics for $7.14 that I would have to pay $10 for in the Phoenix area.

grandma sue 03-02-2011 07:27 PM

I just got mine that I ordered from JoAnn's. It is the 12 X 18 with 1/4" measure. I have the original one, the small 1/4" one and the half-square triangle one. This one has a 1/4" measure on the left and then 1/2" intervals the rest of the way. But you line up your fabric with the 1/4" line and then start cutting. I love it.

Ceil 03-02-2011 07:43 PM

I had two coupons and bought both the one you have and the 1/4. BUT I thought I'd have to take mine back when I saw yours with all the yellow lines! Didn't realize at first that that was from your cutting board and thought I'd been short-changed! I love your fabrics!!

OHSue 03-02-2011 07:46 PM

I have actually worn mine out, the little keyholes are kind of chewed up.

DonnaB 03-02-2011 07:55 PM

I have the 1/2" Tailor shape cut ruler and love it, thinking about getting the 1/4" one too.

Melinda in Tulsa 03-02-2011 08:07 PM

I've had the shape cut pro for a couple years now and just love it. It has 2½ cut implements only and it's just perfect for the size strips I usually use. It was expensive but I bought it on shoppers rule so it could have been worse!

Quiltaddict 03-02-2011 09:50 PM

Aren't those rulers great. I have almost worn out my first one and then I found an almost new one at a yard sale for only 50 cents. I love your floral fabrics, makes me long for spring.

sewingsuz 03-02-2011 09:54 PM

bammy1 03-03-2011 05:41 AM

Do any of you who have this ruler, as I do, also have an Accuquilt Go? I'm considering getting the Go to make more accurate squares etc. Would that be another good investment? I find the cutting is so time consuming especially since it needs to be so accurate! Would a Go baby work as well as the regular size Go: Any advise would be welcome.

mrsddh97 03-03-2011 05:46 AM

I was learned to quilt using this ruler. I thing I have 4 of them now I various lengths and measures. I love them.

Tawnya's Mom 03-03-2011 06:53 AM

I was having problems with getting wavy strips in the middle. I bought one of these rulers and LOVE it. I now am ready to do a Log Cabin also. Your fabrics are beautiful. :-D

dls 03-03-2011 06:57 AM

Buy the biggest you can find. I love this tool.
