Deb your room looks great .I need a bigger room with more shelving. It is hard to be organized when there is no place to put stuff.

grugirl 03-15-2011 08:20 PM

SIly girl, no feelings hurt here. As a matter of fact, one lady tride to measure for the lifters and she decided to use the door stops. Thanks for the suggestion. Join me again anytime. HUGS

Great job. There is nothing like getting the sewing studio back in order.

Now the hallway is empty, I will take a picture shortly. It's a long process. It's like multiplying rabbits, there's more fabric and stuff showing up the more I put up. But, I will finish soon. ♥♥

Debbie,

It has been impressive to watch you go through this project. Your room looks wonderful and comfy too. If I've learned anything from your experience it is to organize my fabrics BEFORE I begin to cull and delete. Just going through my boxes to find fabrics for a project can easily result in a big jumbled mess if I'm not careful. That means that I often have to go through the same box more than once to pull what I want to use. Thank goodness they are at least sorted by color so I can easily find the correct box again when I need something from a particular color family. One day I hope to get my fabrics onto backer boards (already purchased) but I need to wait until this summer/fall when DD2 heads off to college since I don't have room for any additional book cases in my current space. I am looking so forward to seeing your final room pictures but even more I am looking forward to seeing what the first project you will complete will be, now that you have rediscovered all of your beautiful fabrics. Thanks for sharing your journey with all of us, you truly have been an inspiration to many.

Thank you ROse. I have a new update post called "out of the hallway, into the sweing room". Hope to be done by next week so I can get some major sewing done again. I can't wait. Thanks for sharing this journey with me everyone. This is what I see others learning.

Do not let the fabric grow out into the hallway and into other rooms too.

Clean at least once a week to organize your mess again.

DOn't keep buying fabric just because it is on sale. (like this is gonna work :))

Make project boxes with the fabrics you will be using so you won't keep buyng and you know what you have.

Replace fabric only when shelf room permits.

Don't over buy quilting supplies and have the Peg board too full for other needed items. :)

Make sure you can see the floor at all times. If you can't, time to pick up again.

I could go on and on but won't. It's been a fun journey, but like all trips, I"m ready to be home again and relax and sew.
