You are inspiring me to do the same. My problem is everytime I need some color or themed fabric I demolish all the organizing I have previously done, just looking for it. lol. . . I just know that fabric is in there somewhere.

mhuskins1 02-23-2011 03:35 AM

I work for stash !!!!

Veronica 02-23-2011 04:03 AM

Wow Deb, you are really making progress!

Deb Thies 02-23-2011 04:07 AM

oh girlfriend- I'm saying a prayer for you

debbieumphress 02-23-2011 04:27 AM

Thank you all again. YOu are right about making a a mess while looking for a fabric. And for this reason, I intend to have all that fabric on boards soon and standing uo like a book so all I have to do is look. WIll eventually color code, etc, to make it better. One step at a time. I am filling up the hallway today and getting the middle of the room out of there so I can walk and start in the back. One more cup of java and tehn grab a coke and off I go.

quilter68 02-23-2011 04:37 AM

Beautiful!

steelecg 02-23-2011 04:40 AM

stitchinwitch 02-23-2011 04:44 AM

Its looking good Debbie - now - shall we all REFUSE to sell you anything on this board?????? hmmmmmmmmm

LoveBug 02-23-2011 05:21 AM

When I organized my fabric I had the same thought... no more buying fabric because I was totally sick of folding it. :)

Of course, now that it's all folded, it's not hard to keep up, eh? :)

#1piecemaker 02-23-2011 05:27 AM

Now, just wait until you cna't find what you are looking for!! I've tried to organize before. Then I can't find something. It all goes in the floor until I find it. But, it's looking good for now.

jeanneb52 02-23-2011 05:34 AM

don't stop now, yer on a roll!

pieces 02-23-2011 05:36 AM

RhondaKay 02-23-2011 05:41 AM

Oh my goodness... I wish I had that much fabric! ... no, really, I do wish I had that much fabric.... people say be careful what you wish for, but, in this instance... I wish, I wish, I wish.... I love quilting! :)

ga447 02-23-2011 05:44 AM

Your almost there, the room looks great. I organized yesterday and it felt so so good. I have to bind a quilt and then I am going cut and sort scraps.

mimee4 02-23-2011 06:06 AM

Keep on going. You are almost done. You are doing hard work and succeeding! Hooray.

Jo M 02-23-2011 06:19 AM

I wish I knew how to get that Fleetwood Mac song to play for you on this thread (just pretend they're singing it to you)-

"Don't stop thinking about tomorrow; Don't stop, it'll soon be heeeere. It'll be here, better than before..."

Keep up the good work.

Joanieu 02-23-2011 06:46 AM

Wow, you have done a lot!!! Please do not over do it and make sure you take plenty of coke breaks - yeah the coke was the first thing I noticed, lol. So far it looks so much better then when I first came over... Kudos to you my friend. :)

You are doing so well! I always run out of steam before it all gets cleaned up.

BettyGee 02-23-2011 07:19 AM

Things are looking fantastic! You are doing a beautiful job and oh how happy you will be when it is finished.

My room is a mess, I'm wrapping everything on boards and I'm beginning to think the fabric pixies are sneaking in during the night and unwrapping. It is going to be so terrific when I'm finished though.

Do you find yourself stopping and thinking about what you could do with the fabric? I start to fold and wrap, then think of a pattern that I remember so have to stop and look it up. Am hoping to be finished by the end of this week. Snow predicted for Friday, great day for stash organizing.

Hang in there!

Cris 02-23-2011 07:33 AM

Fantastic job! How liberating it must be.

bluadept 02-23-2011 08:22 AM

You are doing a great job! Keep it up till friday and then quit to enjoy the trip. You will feel so much lighter without worrying about the mess that is left since you have done so much work already and will get more done in these last couple of days before the trip.

trolleystation 02-23-2011 08:27 AM

Walk away for day and get your 'groove' back. Also give your back a rest.

dphelps 02-23-2011 08:51 AM

I have been watching your progress and I smile through all the postings. You have a "monumental" task at hand but you are conquering. Proud of you.

Way to Go! I am inspired to keep moving on my future sewing room! I have stuff of my dd's to get out of there. They my dh and I are ripping carpet, painting and putting down laminate flooring! He has designed the room for me on his computer and is really helping me alot! I can't wait for my "Crapalot" to become my very own "Camelot"!

farmquilter 02-23-2011 04:51 PM

I am getting so inspired by all of you who are organizing their quilt areas. I have been saying I am going to do it for a couple of years. Only bought fabric to make the grands a memory quilt for my DH who passed last October. The quilts will also honor my son who passed in 2001,John Deere print.
I have 6 vintage sewing machines to give to a gal who has a small house for quilting. That way she can have machines and we do not have to haul our own machine there to do a group project. Now that feels good to free up that amount of space.

So, thank you everyone that has inspired me to start my downsizing.

You have inspired me to get busy -- I spent the day organizing quilt magazines into clear totes.
