Yup. This is what I did today and I am so tired but will get my second wind. It's the lifting and folding that I am so tired of. lOL. Did I tell you I miss the sales? I am so not buying for a while anyway....
When you go in the door, this part wall is behind my door on the right, still have the back left and back right to do. And I see fabric back there too. ARghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

It is looking SOOO good!

But, don't wear yourself out. Take time for a break once in a while and get your rest.

Leota 02-22-2011 12:49 PM

Looks like my room before we had to pack the house up for repairs... most of my stash is in boxes but not organized... just stashed in the boxes.... going to organize as I unpack.

mommamac 02-22-2011 12:49 PM

Oh my goodness - you must be exhausted! Does it feel like your fabric is multiplying? Didn't know energizer bunny had the same problem as rabbits. lol

Jim's Gem 02-22-2011 12:51 PM

Me too. My DS is putting flooring in my studio/dining room and the living room. So now all my stuff is in boxes in the loving, soon to go back in the studio/dining room and still in the boxes. Then I can unpack and figure how to store it.

I hope I do good at the casino, if nothing else I get to rest. LOL. And no way am I buying more bins or containers, I am going to use what I have and get rid of fabrics. SO I will continue to work until Thursday and friday and enjoying my trip with my mom and sis. Wish they still quilted, I'd fill up my trunk when I go. You should see the boxes and containers outside the back door now. Hubby said, "good, now I have more for my shop".
Thanks to all the encouragement. It helps. It also makes me "need" to get in there every day because you are waiting for more pictures. ROFL - now I can't get up.♥♥

sharon b 02-22-2011 01:23 PM

debbieumphress 02-22-2011 01:43 PM

Thank you. Silly me leaving my coke showing. But it is diet. LOL. It's getting there and I am thrilled. ONly problem is I am right back to where I was 8 months ago when I started selling. I know I sold over 2000#'s. ROFL. I agree with another lady....the fabric is multiplying like rabbits and mice. NP3 is going to help me more when she comes in May. I just got a head start.

Lookin' Good!

CorneliaVa 02-22-2011 05:16 PM

Deb .... thanks so much for letting us watch your progress. ... as a "newbie" I had no clue what I was getting into with the fabric thing .... let alone tools, books, batting and all the other things quilters rely upon.

Now I can see where I am headed if I don't get it under control from the git-go.

Once my friends found out I was serious about quilting, I started getting lots of people's unwanted/unused "sewing stash" ... their own, or the stashes inherited from their forebearers. ......

Mind you, the stuff I was asked to "please find a use for this -- Mama would be so pleased" ... was not necessarily "QUILTING stash" ... just a hodge-podge of "sewing stash" ... and anything remotely connected to fabric.

I found that I really had to cull out the quilting goods from the other stuff ... and find new homes for what I was sure I couldn't use .... Couldn't? well - how can one be so sure? ....

I wish I had saved some of that stuff ... After looking at some of the pictures posted on this forum - some of the stuff I found new homes for may have been just what might be needed as I gain new skills and interest in this quilting hobby .... Maybe I could have used some of it for traditional (embellished) crazy quilts? art quilts? ... oh well .... And it pains me to think you are really throwing things out ..... How do you know when you "don't need this any more!" ? I know, I know you ARE finding new homes for most of it ..... but.....

I always wondered how you guys work on reorganizing your quilt studios.... use, clean up, add to, re-fold, etc. ..... and STILL have time to turn out those beautiful quilts you keep posting .....

I thought I was SOOOOO disorganized and just plain messy and would never catch up! How silly of me! - The only way I'll ever not have a mess is to not have a stash!

I should not say "I'm happy to know" .... but I AM happy to know that even you experienced quilters -- when you are on a creative roll -- can end up with minor/major disorganization from time to time ..... and after years of quilting, I see how easily your fabric and "stuff" can mushroom to wonderful proportions - leading to wonderful creative possibilities...

Sorry I am so long-winded .... I am just in awe at the progress you have made in the last few days ..... There IS hope for all of us!

Bottom line, though Deb: Organized or not .... you have a stash to die for! .... thanks for letting us sneak a peek!

Maggie_1963 02-22-2011 05:21 PM

It's so fun keeping up with someone's project, thanks for sharing, take a breather every now & then, but don't give up! You have some great quilts to make from the looks of your stash!

debbieumphress 02-22-2011 06:15 PM

Dreamer2009 and NP3 - You two are not the only ones who look "past" the picture. I have others who comment on things like, hey, like the table, your bed isn't made, etc. SO funny.

I think I am going to not post any more updates until I am done. I will continue to finish soon and post the final pictures. SO stay tuned... I had the other posts locked to keep up with one. Thanks for all the kudos and encouragement. I can do this. ♥♥ It could get old and I want the final "revealing" to be a good thing, not dull. It's been a fun journey and sharing with this wonderful board and I have laughed more than usual and that's a lot. :) Hope everyone who I inspired to clean will let us know later too. I will keep watching you guys. I do have a goal of MOnday. *H*U*G*S*

dkabasketlady 02-22-2011 06:50 PM

Debbie, I can't believe the progress from day to day! Please don't stop posting pics of your daily progress. It has TRULY helped so many others to clean up their rooms also. If you can do, then they can too! I saw the diet coke too(I have to have the reg. Coke)!!!!
