The other day I forgot to change from my 1/4 foot to the decorative foot , so when I started to sew , my needle hit the edge of the foot an broke. Ever since then my decorative stitches make the correct stitch on the back and a totally different stitch on the front of the fabric. Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do to fix the problem? All straight sewing is fine.

This sounds nuts but have you unplugged the machine and waited 10 minutes to plug it back in? Electronics sometimes have a built in reset if unplugged for a set time. Worked on my embroidery machine when it had a similar issue. I sold it and the new owner had issue and thast worked again. And, doesn't cost anything to try it. Hope you get it going right again.

Ditto --- unplug from the wall.... Just turning it off doesn't re-set the computer. Hope it works!

Turning your machine "OFF" only turns the light off. Your machine will continue to "run" unless it is unplugged! ALWAYS unplug your machine when you finish sewing!!!!!!!!
(you can check this out by sewing with the light turned off)

really? I didn't know that, but I do unplug when not in use.

That's not true for mine, when it "off" its really off and will not take a single stitch.

wow..that was an easy fix...and good TIP as well.
Turning off my newer machines actually turns them off, but I know from my stupid printer that unplugging it really is what it takes to RESET it!
