Design assistance please!

First, galloping horse rules apply please!
I am having difficulty planning how to lay out these squares into a queen bed quilt. They are approximately 12 inches square. I plan to border in the print material, (quite wide) with a thin border of the dark blue between the squares and wide outer border. When I see just these four, I like how it looks, and I like the secondary pattern that emerges from the four corners being united.
When I try and lay out beyond this, I cannot find a look I like.
I have enough fabric to make more of any/all of these accent colours.

This has been a WIP for over a year, it's not like I have to hurry, but I would like to get it finished.

Any suggestions would be welcome. The pattern is called "Filtered Sunlight" by Judith Sandstrom. I adapted her pattern from 2 blocks of 18" each to 4 blocks of approx 12" each. Her pattern alternated blocks across each row like a checkerboard.

Another option is to use a very narrow sashing. A very narrow sashing will add another design layer and still keep the secondary pattern you get without sashing. A very narrow sashing would be 1/2 to 3/4ths of an inch. I think I'd use black with that really light for a cornerstone.

Those are really cool blocks. Make more.

The second arrangement works great. This will be wonderful when all together.

To clarify, the first picture is just the four blocks (on my kitchen floor). I pushed them together for the second picture to show the secondary star that forms from the four corners touching.

I plan to use a small dark blue inner border followed by a larger print border.

What I can't figure out is how to arrange the different coloured blocks in a larger format to make a quilt - how to I lay them out to showcase the dark blue, the light blue, the dark brown and the caramel colours.

Scissor Queen - I love the blocks more now I have seen them at arm's length in the photo. I was getting tired of flying geese today.I have about 32 blocks done in total, and need to do more, but want to settle on a layout so I know how many more of each colour I need to do.

I like the blocks seperated by some kind of thin brown sashing. It makes the blocks, esp the dark blue one, stand out. Then a darker sashing on the outside borders maybe with the white wide border? Post pictures when you decide please!!

Ahhh, yes, that design dilemma. I'd just play with them. You can run the colors in diagonals, alternate two colors in a row, start with four of the same in the center, then rounds of each color. There's probably another half dozen ideas for arrangements I have thought of yet.
