I'm no newbie but I have learned a great deal about batting/ wadding by reading your thread. Thank you for asking the question as we all learn from each other and thank you to all who replied with such clear instructions about the amount of quilting with b/w .

Be kind. This is my first one. I know the result is a little bit dorky, but I like it. Had never machine quilted anything before and I don't know how to post pictures. I made a king sized quilt the first time which wasn't a good idea and didn't learn about battings and things like I should have first. My question is this. These are 10 inch blocks. I think I used the batting that is 2 to 4 inches to quilt. If there is SID around each block and FMQ around each applique is that enough quilting. If it isn't can you please give me some suggestions. I afraid to wash this. Thank you. |
Very pretty! I applaud your doing FMS! I'm still trying to get up the nerver to do so.
I would say yes to quilting part of it. It should be ok. |
My general rule for most batting is to measure with the width of your hand which is approx. 4 - 5" so if you are SID around the edge of the blocks and FMQ the appliqués that is perfect, as is your quilt, I love it.

Love the colors, love the coffee cups but I would quilt way more to avoid lumps and shifting.
Personally, I LIKE a fair amount of quilting. But then I love to hand quilt... 2-4 inches: I go for the every 2 inches or so. b |
