Boy, $1200 is a lot for a cutter. I guess I think that because cutting is one of my favorite things to do. I guess I would think differently if I didn't like to cut fabric. That is enough money to buy another machine, just saying.

i just bought the accuquilt go not to long ago, the dies on the the studio seemed kinda exspensive

dreamer2009 10-26-2011 08:56 AM
hello,
you cannot use any other die, than the studio. the go dies and not made for the studio. you will damage the die. if you call accuquilt, they will let you know what dies are compatible. hope this helps.[/quote

THEY HAVE JUST RELEASED AN ADAPTER so you can use Go Die on the Studio.

WOW~~~you certainly lucked out.

I was gifted with a Go! cutter, but sold it so that I could go to the bigger (not portable) one. Decided to go with the Sizzix Big Shot Pro (Westminster/purple) after watching posts for many months about the pros and cons of the various cutters on the market. There is a yahoo group (pinsandneedles1) where the owner sells Go!, Baby Go! and Sizzix machines and dies at 35% off discount prices. I've bought several and found her to be a very honest and reliable merchant. The reason I chose the Big Shot is that it will allow the use of dies made by several different companies and cuts many more layers than the Go! It really boils down to choice. Ebony Love is also a veritable gold mine of information and her tutorials are fantastic.

I'm wavering on this machine as it only has a 5 year warranty versus lifetime warranty on Studio.
I do like this option though.

Maybe Accuquilt will follow suit since it's new release of adapter.

MUch much less than I paid for mine!!! Lucky you.

Pat F. C. 10-26-2011 10:28 AM

I bought the sizzix westmister also. It does cut several layers of fabric. I only paid like 150.00 for it. I bought the small one and I like it, but I have not used it as much. Sometimes I see all the patterns for the Go baby die cuts and wished I would have bought instead.

klarina 10-26-2011 10:35 AM

I belong to a yahoo group of fabric cutters and I have heard some other groupies mention that they can use any type of die on the sizzix westminster.

As I understand, you just need to use some type of adapter.

Just keep in mind, the dies are designed to cut a certain amount of layers, no matter what machine you are running them through. Cutting more layers than called for or heavier fabric and not reducing layers will shorten the die life and you will end up having to buy new dies to replace the dulled damaged ones.

They have an adapter now to enable you to use go dies on the studio.

The studio dies are more expensive and now they have an adapter to use with it so you can use Go dies with it. I have seen go dies on many other sites and they have sales on them. So I got the adapters as well, so I can pick Studio and/or Go dies to purchase and use as I see fit.

You told a fib, I know you must go out to buy fabric
 Groceries are secondary and if they get hungry there is always the good old pbj

does anyone have a link that will give the specifics on this item such as measurements...

Sizzix Big Shot Pro (Westminster/purple)

babyboomerquilter 10-26-2011 12:23 PM

I have the Sizzix and have had no problem cutting 4 layers. On 6, it misses parts here and there. I really love it, but I too, want the accuquilt studio. I have heard it is a workhorse.

Sizzix Big Shot Pro (Westminster/purple)

have just found the info.
the table length of the Sizzix is 15" shorter than the Studio.
I'm thinking this might cause stress on the Sizzix
if I am to cut a lot of strips as the die are long.

I have one too. I love it.

serenitybygrace 10-26-2011 02:15 PM

Is it true that there is an adapter to use with the Accuquilt GO so you can cut with Sizzix dies?

I got my GO at a yard sale for $75. I grabbed it quick and did the happy dance all the way home. I have gotten most of my dies for less than $20. If I am wanting a specific die, I do look and look trying to find the lowest price. I try to save where I can.

Well I did it! I bought the accuquilt for myself as an early Xmas gift. Only 14 hrs left of the sale

I have the Sizzix Westminster Big Shot Pro. I've cut many strips on it, with the GO dies and also the few Sizzix strip dies I have. They all work beautifully.

The only thing that the Sizzix can't do is cut the the Super Giant and Giant Studio dies as they're to wide for the Sizzix. Other than those you can cut anything.

You can also use the Accucut dies..

pegstar 10-26-2011 09:42 PM

The Sizzix big Shot Pro will cut up to 10 layers at one time

it is no designed to cut several pieces of fabric at one time.
Oh, I was at a quilt show not long ago and watched a demo, I would have sworn they said it did. I will have to check into it further. I would love to have one of these.
Yes there is, but you have to buy the adapter pad from a Sizzix dealer.

Whoops~~~I think I got that backwards.

"Westminster Sizzix Big Shot, Big Shot Express and the Vagabond
These fabric cutters will take ALL Sizzix Sizzlits, Sizzix Bigz and Bigz XL dies as well as the AccuQuilt dies that are 6 inches wide or less. The bed of these machines are 6 inches wide so they will not take dies that are wider than 6 inches.

Westminster Big Shot Pro
The Westminster Big Shot Pro will take ALL Sizzix Dies and ALL AccuQuilt dies"

This came from a site called IHAN or I Have A Notion. I tried to attatch their site URL but for some reason I couldn't. This says it all.
