I have them both and think the Olfa is far superior also.

I have an old fiskers I have not used in a long time. Now have Olfa and I love it. I have not use the fiskers in so long that I could not really compare the two.

I have a Fiskars mat and cutter and love them both. The only time I have a problem is when my blade needs to be changed.

My old olfa finally wore out so I bought a fiskar. After a week I had to take it back. I'm not heavy handed with my rotary wheel, but it was cutting through layers of the fisher mat which were shredding apart. Once little pieces started to break off, it was impossible to cut fabric on it. I'll stick with olfa from now on.

Good info to know!

This is a timely post for me. My Fiskar mat has suddenly buckled in places, even though it's always flat on the table, and not in the sun. So, I need to replace it. I'll buy an Olfa for sure.

Wow, this is the reason this board is so amazing! I've always blamed the blade for going dull so quickly. I need to check my cutting mat now!

I just got a Martelli at a show. It's much thicker than the Fiskars and Olfa, reversible, and feels different and better when you cut. One side is yellow, the other a light purple, so all you have to do is reverse the mat if you can't see some fabrics. I had a Big Mat, it was OK, I have some Olfas around that I use for cutting mat board with an exacto. They work fine for that.

I have a Fiskars "Donna Dewberry Collection" (it's pinky/purple) mat and have never had any trouble cutting on it. It is now about 5 years old. It fits my sewing table perfectly. Have larger Olfa mats, but unless I am cutting on my dining room table, they are too large. JMO.
