Too embarrassed to post pictures! Took everything out of wonderful cabinets....now I have no floor, nor cutting table, nor sewing table....eeks, how did I get into this!

Jim's Gem 08-13-2011 08:44 AM

Did you pull it all out to re-organize??? Just think of the end result!!! When you get it back into the cabinets, it will look wonderful!!

OK, 1:15pm update on disaster.....most fabrics sorted and put back in cabinets, UFO's and projects purchased, but not made are in bags and hanging where I can see them. Yet to go, flannels need to be folded better and put in cabinet, small colored fabs need to be sorted into correct shoe boxes, run the sweeper, then collapse. Maybe post a picture or two......if ANYONE sees me going in the direction of a fabric store, call the police.

craftybear 08-13-2011 12:50 PM

Stop do not get your car keys to go to fabric stores!

as you can shop at your own house for quilting supplies, much easier and will save on gas and $$$$$, have fun

Sounds like my sewing room at times,,,,,,,,,, its worth the effort , believe me.... and I have to do mine often!

rekrug 08-13-2011 05:09 PM

Just finished, will post pictures. This won't stay like this long! LOL

Deb watkins 08-13-2011 05:21 PM

After GagaSmith and I went to our LQS 20% off sale last Saturday, I spend the next 5 hours sorting and reorganizing my own sewing area. It was a chore, but as mentioned, it was well worth it. I have to wash the latest order from Connecting Threads, #1Quiltmaker and the stack I found in the 'stash'. I even found my missing seam ripper and an elusive ruler.

I love it too, former room of my daughter, you can see her picture on the wall. The deal was, I can turn her room into a sewing room if she can use it when she visits. Win-Win!

Rose L 08-13-2011 06:41 PM

I did a similar thing a few weeks ago when I moved into this new room that my daughter vacated when she left home for college. Then I wasn't happy with the layout I had chosen so I did it all over again last night, lol! My space is about 11x16 and is the guest room, office and sewing room all in one. I like the new layout and I'm sure you are enjoying your newly reorganized space as much as I am. Your space looks fantastic!!

Looks wonderful! What a fun place to play with fabric and sew some treasures.
Happy dance for you! All cleaned up and ready to play again!

Ditto for me, too.

Very nice!

susie-susie-susie 08-14-2011 06:46 AM

Your room looks great. You must have worked like a dog to get it all out of the room and sorted then put back. Good job.

Love your sewing room. Mine needs to be cleaned too. Seems like when I do get it cleaned up, it just gets messed up again. It's just a "viscious" circle. I do always try to clean it after a project is finished. My room is not nearly as spacious as yours.

Julie in NM 08-14-2011 07:01 AM

Job well done. YOu're gonna love going in their sewing and creating. Can I come play?

Wow! looks like you have a pretty large sewing room. Love the lay out.

deanneellen 08-14-2011 07:09 AM

Great area for quilting. We have two upstairs bedrooms connected by a Jack and Jill bathroom. I have been using one room as my sewing room and the other as my office for my interior decorating business. Both rooms also must be utilized as guest rooms when my children come home. Well, I am slowly pulling out of the interior decorating business (economy) so am thinking of taking over the other room as well for my quilting. Haven't mentioned this to hubby yet. Might just ease in there and wait until he finds out on his own!!!

Sewfine 08-14-2011 07:19 AM

Love your sewing room. I think if I had a sewing space that size I would be inclined to do more.

Val in IN 08-14-2011 07:21 AM

Good job getting it done, and it only took you 1 day??? It took me 2 MONTHS to get mine done!! (LOL)

Grandma Peg 08-14-2011 07:56 AM

Good luck and remember it will be worth it in the end.

Annz 08-14-2011 08:16 AM

I just saw your pictures. Looks great.

Quiltgranny 08-14-2011 08:28 AM

NICE sewing table! Would you mind sharing the brand and where I can find more info on it? Thanks.

Your sewing room looks very nice and inviting now. Go create! :D

mountain deb 08-14-2011 08:40 AM

Drat that silly little conscience, it will get you into either; trouble, mess or work. Glad you got it all straightened out.

QuiltingSister 08-14-2011 09:27 AM

Looks like a wonderful place to be creative!

gmaof5 08-14-2011 09:34 AM

Well worth the effort!

eimay 08-14-2011 09:46 AM

Did that a little bit ago. I sew in my guest room. It took many hours, but now things are sorted and in a sense of order. I couldn't believe it. One day after I finished, a family member moved in (temporarily?). Now I'm back to sewing on the kitchen table, but the guest room is straight.

Great job! I love your arrangement of the sewing table and the ironing board. I could do that. Would just have to get rid of (or move) the chest of drawers that store my gadgets, etc.

debby wicke 08-14-2011 11:24 AM

Yep, I cleared the room and reorganized. I replace everything I pulled out a soon and as soon I am done with a project or before I start something different.

Marge L. 08-14-2011 12:27 PM

Wish I had had your problem. At least you have the room. Came home from a 2 wk. trip from UP MI and it took me 2 days to find someplace to store the pile of fabric that I had. Didn't pass a store without a stop and some spent $$$$. Do need to worry all winter. Hope it's a long one. Looks nice, girl.
