i won a bag of mountain mist batting and did not care for it , i am a true blue warm and natural /white batting fan

The "old Mountain Mist" polyester was made on 1850-60s equipment. It finally got so old that Mt. Mist either had to have specially built parts or get new equipment. They got new machines. This was in the late 1990s. The old poly batt had a surface on it like a had sprayed sugar coating (not really) that kept the batt in place and prevented bearding/movement. I've washed a quilt with that batt LOTS of times, and never had a problem. Anyway, their new batt was a different matter. My quilt was accepted by the International Quilt Festival in 1999. The batt bearded and looked as if it need a shave! I complained during Market and fabric and batt samples were sent to Mt. Mist R&D. They couldn't come up with any good answer for me. So I have never used it again. And the original poly batt was my favorite.
I'm glad to hear that their Cream Rose batting works well. As to quilting spacing, as with any cotton batt, I would keep quilting line 3 to 4 inches apart.--no more.
