What's a safe way to throw out needles & blades so they don't end up harming some sea bird in a landfill somewhere?

empty medicine bottles seem to work well... as do film canisters....
i think any bottle/jar with a lid works :D

I use anything that is not a recylable item. These do end up in recycle centers and we don't want to harm any of the workers. :D:D:D

call your local waste management company. I'll bet they can tell you what to do.

What a great tip. I hadn't thought of that. I'm calling mine when we get home.

I think you can drop them into any sharps containers that are in a lot of bathrooms these days. Your local health center can help, too.

I take mine to the doctors office with me and put them in the sharps container there, or if I know a resturant has a sharps container I take them with me when I go out to dinner.

We have an old fashioned Med. Cabinet. It is built into the wall, and has a little "slit" in the back that you can drop razor blades in. I put all those sharp things in that. Goes way down behind the wall, and will take forever to fill up! The only way the sharpies will ever harm anyone (or anything, unless we get a mouse!) is if someone remodels the bathroom and takes the wall down. That ain't gonna happen in MY lifetime!

I don't toss my sewing machine needles. I use them to hang pictures or what ever on wAlls makes much smaller hole and are strong. Pull out with plyers.
