Dizzy Geese tamed...to scallop or not......
1 Attachment(s)
Top is complete. A bit larger than I anticipated, finishes at 68”x68”. I had planned to gently scallop the edges-I have never done a scalloped edge before-but I am wondering if it will look too “casual” for this top? Thoughts?

To me a scalloped edge is dressier than a straight edge, especially if it has a teensy contrasting flange.
I've never thought of scalloped borders as "casual". For me, it's one of the fanciest ways to finish a quilt and this one deserves it! I love your Dizzy Geese!
I've only done one scalloped border and I didn't do a particularly good job, but accuracy is apparently not my thing anyway. I love your quilt! I don't think it needs a scalloped border. Looks great as is.

I think scalloped borders are elegant, not casual. I say go for it!
I agree that scallops are dressier than straight edges. If you want to do them, go for it.
l really like your top as is. I like scalloped borders, but in this case, I don't think it would add anything to the quilt...I like it just the way it is!
I also think it looks great as is.

I agree with donna13350. This is a perfectly beautiful quilt! To me, a scalloped border does not really suit the style of the quilt.
I love scallops but I can't picture the look on your quilt.
It's so beautiful, no matter what you do. I always love seeing your work! |
