I really like this variation. I will have to try it this year. Thanks for sharing.

I made a DNP variation using the tute from the site below. It was easy and would look really nice using your 2 color blocks.

Traditional 9 Patch blocks were done with just 2 colours, 4 light squares and 5 dark squares. You can do your D9P in whatever colours you like.

I agree with Tartan. I have seen them done in just two colors. Good Luck !!

I have been collecting novelty fabric to make a Man's quilt in 2014. I want to make it D9P as I have become 9P obsessed. The first block I can truly make. LOL( thanks to Pat Sloan's I can't believing I'm quilting book). I am wondering what size should I cut the blocks?
I will be putting the novelty fabric in the corners so they wont be cut.
Thanks

I can't see why not, I think the idea is great. go for it, and don't forget to show us how it came out.
what a gift that is. i'd love to be gifted that way. enjoy yourself, and merry Christmas

If they are 4" now doing the DNP is going to make the final block smaller. I have done in 5" sqs. If the size isn't an issue I don't see why not.
