Do I need another border?

I am not sure if this quilt needs an outer border. What are your opinions?

Depending on how big you want the quilt to be...personally and this is just my preference of course. I would have put a 1 1/2" or 2" border of one of the colors in the quilt and then the wider outside border and then bind it with the inner border color but that is what I would do...and BTW I love love this quilt...Looks like a lot of work.....

carolaug 10-12-2013 10:49 AM

Oh...a nice pick border would look so pretty...love your quilt!

Tartan 10-12-2013 10:50 AM

I love Hello Kitty! Your top is adorable! I might lay one of the brights from the quilt alongside the white border to audition it.

debbiemarie 10-12-2013 10:56 AM

I would try putting a wide border maybe 2" of the brighter pink color to see if it looks right, if not maybe a bright purple

QuiltnNan 10-12-2013 11:29 AM

i would only add another border if the size is not large enough as it is.

quiltsRfun 10-12-2013 11:34 AM

Short answer - yes. Longer answer - it looks unfinished to me the way it is. Just my opinion though. I love what you've done so far. Is that applique?

susie-susie-susie 10-12-2013 11:35 AM

I would put another border in a bright color. The white makes it very pale IMHO. Very nice quilt by the way. I do love the soft colors you have used.

It's adorable! Maybe would've used the white as trim all around connecting the sashing and then the beige/tan border. But I think it's cute as is. Just depends on how big you want it.

I agree with Btiny36. But it is best to audition to be able to find the perfect border. You have done a very lovely job with piecing this quilt.

M.Elizabeth 10-12-2013 12:02 PM

I also agree with Btiny!

oh munner 10-12-2013 12:05 PM

Awe..... that's so cute! I would do another border, and I'd probably use that pretty green in the upper corner or the cute check, only because everything goes with green.

#1piecemaker 10-12-2013 12:11 PM

I think I'd put another one if I were you. Maybe a hot pink. Our quilt is so cute!! Great job!

bigsister63 10-12-2013 12:55 PM

actually (since you asked) I would replace the white border with 2-3" pink plolkadot border. White is too pale and make the quilt look washed out!!!! Cute quilt !!!!!

maminstl 10-12-2013 02:30 PM

What I would do is add a bright binding color if you think it just needs a little more pop.

Since you asked, I agree with bigsister and it is a darling quilt anyway you decide to go!

nygal 10-12-2013 02:46 PM

I would add either the yellow or the red fabric for a border to make the whole quilt "pop". It is very sweet.

mighty 10-13-2013 07:12 AM

I think I would add another in a brighter color, if it will not make it to large. Really cute quilt!

SandyWh 10-13-2013 07:15 AM

Do what you like. It's nice as is. Love your appliqué. Is it hand appliquéd?

Holice 10-13-2013 07:20 AM

Yes you do

michelleoc 10-13-2013 08:40 AM

Personally, I'd add another border. The quilt is absolutely darling!

Gannyrosie 10-13-2013 08:43 AM

yup, needs another boarder to showcase it. Love the quilt though, nice job so far.

Luv Quilts and Cats 10-13-2013 10:01 AM

If you need another border for size, I would use purple. Cute quilt!

Boston1954 10-13-2013 10:15 AM

If you want just a little something to frame it up, try making the binding a bit darker than the border that you have. I have done that a few times and it always makes a difference.

Glad you like the applique. Yes it is hand appliqued

Nanny's dollface 10-13-2013 04:32 PM

Would love to see a bright pink border to frame the quilt. Love hello kitty. You did a great job!

Jean in Ohio13452 10-14-2013 03:09 AM

Need to bring 2 of the brighter colors to the outside edges like the Pink and then bind with Green even the lighter Green would look OK... its really nice...

franniekay 10-14-2013 03:17 AM

pattern please have new grandaughter and would love to do this thank you in advance! If you can my e-mail is [email protected]

quilter68 10-14-2013 04:32 AM

This is an adorable quilt! Love the applique. It needs a frame/another border. The dark pink would be cute.

Diana Lea 10-14-2013 04:39 AM

My granddaughter would love that quilt. A darker pink would be very nice as an outter boarder. But after studying for awhile what about blue, green or red? Yellow Would be to soft. Just mho. You can not go wrong with whatever you want to do

klgls 10-14-2013 04:49 AM

Adorable quilt!! I would make the border you have on there now narrower and then add a 3-4" border of one of the bright fabrics.

Shorebird 10-14-2013 04:58 AM

I would add another border (or two)....If you have the time and fabric, I would add a very narrow border of either the black, red, or dark purple, and then a wider (3" finished or so) border of one of the lighter colors (like the light green or yellow)......It is fine the way it is.......I just happen to like multiple borders on quilts.......

piepatch 10-14-2013 05:03 AM

Your quilt is precious, and will be even more so with a colored border, or possibly some applique from colored fabric on the wide borders you already have.

lclang 10-14-2013 05:08 AM

Frame it with a darker color, the red or blue.

sewmerry 10-14-2013 05:38 AM

Your Hello Kitty Is spectacular!! It's just what I need for MY sweet 5 yr old DGD. Love it....

gramma nancy 10-14-2013 06:08 AM

Some little girl is going to be very happy. I would put another bright border around it.

Rose Bagwell 10-14-2013 06:44 AM

I agree with btiny36, a color border would add more than size to it.

cpcarolyn 10-14-2013 06:56 AM

Beautiful quilt and yes I would but another boarder on.

danlynmartin 10-14-2013 07:49 AM

I would like to see a final border darker than the pink to frame the quilt. It may end up on a wall and would be great with a frame. A frame any way in my opinion.

nena 10-14-2013 08:29 AM

I agree the white makes it pale. I would add the green. You could add a narrow bright pink and then a larger lime green .
