Finished this buzz saw and its a good lap size. Was thinking of putting a black border if so how big. My sqs are 5.5 finished.I like it without. Opions please.
Snowing and cold again but getting lots of sewing done!
Thanks Gale

I think I like it without too.

toverly 03-02-2014 06:08 AM

I would go with Navy. But, that's just my opinion from the photo.

PenniF 03-02-2014 06:16 AM

I always like a narrow border to "frame" the main quilt body...just my personal thing. Whatever you decide, this is a really stunning quilt !!! The pattern and colors are great.

isewman 03-02-2014 06:18 AM

I like the black, but also the navy blue would be nice.

Buckeye Rose 03-02-2014 06:25 AM

I like it without a border....maybe using black for the binding will give that "framed" look.

Judi in Ohio 03-02-2014 06:35 AM

I would not go black but rather navy - deeper than the last color used - some navys are really dark which I love - or hate depending on if I'm trying to pair up something to wear. lol

quiltin-nannie 03-02-2014 06:41 AM

I think a narrow navy blue border would frame it nicely.

scrapinmema 03-02-2014 06:44 AM

I would go with a 3" navy blue border.

I agree either a narrow navy border or no border at all. I am not sure that I would like a black border on it.

DOTTYMO 03-02-2014 07:15 AM

White for a frame and navy for binding. It's a beautiful quilt.

Jeanne S 03-02-2014 07:21 AM

I say no border.

I agree!!!!!

QuiltnNan 03-02-2014 07:37 AM

it depends on the look you like. the blue 'border' with the blocks carried to it is very interesting. the black border will contain everything into the center of the quilt.

MaryMo 03-02-2014 07:38 AM

I'm another vote for binding in black to give it oompah!

dunster 03-02-2014 07:43 AM

Lovely quilt. If you like it and it's the right size, then there's no reason to add a border.

grma33 03-02-2014 08:30 AM

Thanks all just had enough of the drk blue for binding so stays as is! lol

I think I'd go with a navy border. I think the black would look like it came out of nowhere, since there isn't black in the quilt. Your quilt is beautiful, by the way.

nativetexan 03-02-2014 09:27 AM

just bind it in black

Annie Pearl 03-02-2014 09:34 AM

I like the navy and don't make it too wide, maybe 3 inches. That's my humble opinion.

AnnieSue 03-02-2014 10:56 AM

All that beautiful quilt needs is a binding.

I agree. Try the black or the navy as the binding and see if you like that look.

pw6 03-02-2014 11:57 AM

whatever you decide don't let it be the same color as the edge is now.... is this the finished size? maybe another color than blue.. green, red, purple or something to make it pop.. otherwise if this is the finished size, leave it as it is .. love your colors and the design.. great work

Jackie Spencer 03-02-2014 02:13 PM

I vote for the Navy!!

watson's mom 03-02-2014 09:44 PM

Gale...that's a great quilt, I love the navy border but that's just me. Is it for one of the grands?

MaryKatherine 03-03-2014 04:31 AM

If you put another border on, you lose the charm of the buzz block in the border. I'd leave it.

quiltmom04 03-03-2014 04:49 AM

I love the pattern and colors of your quilt, but I think a black border would detract from it, not add anything. I think it would look like you ran out of blue and used black.

Zinda 03-03-2014 06:37 AM

My vote would be for the navy. Probably thinner and perhaps just the binding.

cpcarolyn 03-03-2014 06:58 AM

Great quilt. I think a small black or dark navy would frame it nicely.

FroggyinTexas 03-03-2014 07:56 AM

The quilt is stunning. If it were mine, I would use two borders, a very narrow, white, not more than two inches around the quilt and add a wider navy blue. froggyintexas

MOLLYDOOKER2 03-03-2014 08:21 AM

I agree with Buckeyerose Black or navy binding

Quilterfay 03-03-2014 09:19 AM

I like it without another border. I think the dark blue acts like the border. It is really nice.

MargeD 03-03-2014 11:53 AM

I like it the way it us, however, if you wanted to add a border, I would make it navy blue instead of black.

QUILTNMO 03-03-2014 12:00 PM

i think navy or black also! pretty quilt

trolleystation 03-03-2014 01:06 PM

I like it without borders. With the blocks spilling over into the border it gives a feeling of motion to the quilt.

Stevensgirl 03-03-2014 03:08 PM

I would go with navy myself.

twinkie 03-04-2014 03:32 AM

If it were my quilt (and a very pretty one at that), I would put a narrow border of light blue and then a wider border of black or navy blue.

PS Stitcher 03-04-2014 06:08 AM

I would put a navy border as well.

fmhall2 03-04-2014 07:06 AM

I like it as is w/o the black border as you don't have very much - if any - black in the quilt. If you must enlarge it, go with a blue.
