Keepsake is one of my 3 LQS (within 1-hour away)... I bought from them when I lived in Massachusetts and still do. I usually visit them every 2 or 3 months. I've never had a negative experience there, always found the employees friendly and helpful. I have heard some people say they aren't as friendly there as other shops... I think it really is the size of the place that puts a lot of people off.... because large shops can seem less cozy than small shops.

We were once on a bus/boat/train trip through New England. My friend and I both yelled at the same time, "KEEPSAKE QUILTING!" We drove right past the store and of course the bus couldn't stop. No other person on the bus knew what we were yelling about. We would have been happy to have them drop us off if they were going to return on the same route, but of course they weren't.

SandyMac 12-15-2010 10:29 AM

Every time I have ordered from them I have been extremely happy with them.

Roberta 12-15-2010 10:43 AM

I love Keepsake. I've never been disappointed in anything I've ordered, and it's been lots of stuff. I live in Maine and can't get over there to NH and it's just as well. My DH would have to drop me off and pick me up in a week. My DIL went there this summer and was amazed at the wonderful store.

acjacques 12-15-2010 10:55 AM

I live about 50 miles south of the KQ shop. the fabrics are great! But I prefer to go to my LQS next town, I get to chat with the owner and find it better to be served one on one.

pinecone 12-15-2010 11:05 AM

Keepsake is one of my favorite playgrounds. My neighbor gave me a gift cert. this year as a thank you for me driving her to appointments....she is a quilter too.

Eparys, FMD36, Ghostrider, Carolaug, Sewcrafty and Moon Holiday we should meet up when they have their tent sale next year. Anyone else in NH join in?? What a rowdy bunch we could be. I usually have some friends up to the cottage the day before so we can get a good start in the morning.

piney....also in NH about 1/2 hour away

I've ordered from Keepsake only once--not that I would do more if I found something I couldn't live without. Very good service and recommend them.
Bev, is your husband in your pic a bag piper? My cousin's husband is and I just love the sound of the pipes.

quiltluvr 12-15-2010 11:50 AM

I've never been disappointed with them. Lots of goodies there to get in trouble with my checkbook!

I don't blame you! Have they ever explained this extra charge?

I recently ordered from them and was very satisfied when I received my order. It came on time and was reasonable priced.

BettyGee 12-15-2010 01:40 PM

Love Keepsake. They have some beautiful fabrics. Glad they are in NH and I'm in CO or I'd be in major trouble.

Daisydoodle 12-15-2010 02:13 PM

Yes, keepsake has really nice fabric. I never thought I would buy fabric without touching/feeling/eye contact. This year I gave it a try and wow, have not been disappointed yet.
with so many fabric stores closing down and WallyWorld abdicating from fabric...had to try something new. Still love my LQS even though it is 25 miles away.

pkelly1947 12-15-2010 03:13 PM

I live in Mass, but get up to Keepsake about once a year. The store itself is great, well organized & a great selection in all types of fabric. I have also ordered from them & delivery is prompt & exactly what I ordered. Happy Holidays & happy quilting.

Kutnso 12-15-2010 03:46 PM

If you think that buying from Keepsake thru mail order is great you should visit the shop. Fantastic!!! You could spend a whole day just browsing.
I live in N.H. and only 1 hour away from this shop and I go at least once a month, during the summer, we spend our winters in Fl. when I order from the catalog.
Very interesting to see all their Challenge wallhangings actually hanging from the ceiling.
Happy Holidays, Kutnso

I live close by, too. Couldn't meet you all on a school day - I might get busted but might be able to on the weekend.
Okay, don't laugh but I really appreciate the facilities at Keepsake. Such a lovely bathroom and convenient.
They usually have a sale on New Year's Day, too. I try to get there for that - like it better than the tent sale usually.
The company that owns Fons and Porter bought Keepsake a few years ago, I was told. I do miss some of the little cute notepads etc. that they used to stock. I gave them as gifts to like minded people...(fabric collectors).

The prices were great too, so I had thought I'd just order a couple of yards here and there and if I didn't like it I'd use it for scrap quilts or whatever. But it's so beautiful and feels so nice that I wish I had bought tons more. If you haven't ever used Keepsake Quilting, try them. I'll be going back for more. And by the way, I don't have anything invested in Keepsake, nor do I have any friends who work there. I live in FL. and they're way up in NH. This is just my own humble opinion. Merry Christmas everybody!!

Bev, That's so cute. I don't have any interest in Keepsake Quilting either however, I lived in NH for over 40 yrs. and dealt with them since the 80's. Their fabric has always been great and their customer service too. I still buy their fabric and I now live in AZ. I drool over every catalog and email I receive from them and if I had the money would buy everything they had.

I only wish they'd take paypal. I don't use credit cards so I'm out of luck ordering from them.
But, not using credit cards is working for me, keeping me out of trouble so to speak, so, well, whatever.

Angel 12-15-2010 04:19 PM

I have also ordered from Keepsake Quilting & have been VERY satisfied with everything. Also the sales staff I delt with were EXTREMELY pleasant & helpful! I would highly recommend ordering from there.

I have ordered from Keepsake. Not fabric but sewing/notion bags and assorted notions. Love, love, love Keepsake Quilting. If you haven't seen the catalog yet, you will love it.

Not only do they have great fabric, their hanging finished quilts will either inspire you or discourage your efforts. They're beautiful!

ewesful 12-15-2010 04:39 PM

If you like Keepsake, you'll love the Fabric Garden in Maine and New England Fabrics in Keene, NH I actually like them much better. Keepsake is owned by Fons and Porter.

I'd be willing to bet you could use the catalog order form, add items from the website to it, and then pay by check or money order when you mail in the order form. Customer service would surely be able to tell you if that is possible, but I don't see why it wouldn't be..

BRenea 12-15-2010 05:10 PM

I have been shopping from Keepsake for some time now, I think they are very professional, and the customer service is great!

Janet My 12-15-2010 06:28 PM

I have ordered from them also. A few years back and also recently. I don't remember the shipping time frame back then but this recent order took almost 2 weeks to get here. I was not in a rush and would never pay extra for shipping anything. I ordered from 4 different places on the same day. The Keepsake order was the last to arrive. Beautiful fabric.... no complaints there at all. Love to look at and drool over the catalog when it comes. LOL

I have been shopping with Keepsake for several years now and have never been dissatisfied with a purchase. I like the fact that I get my order within a week.

I love them too! I love the catalog too much! Happy Holidays back at ya.

jacie 12-15-2010 07:00 PM

how does one get such beautiful signatures on their notes?

poultney 12-15-2010 07:03 PM

Arn't they connected to Fons and Porter's or at least they carry their quilting kits for the quilts in their magazine? Anyway, I too like to order from them. I think they have a big sale going on now on the kits, etc.

Yeah, I just discovered that when another board member mentioned it. I hate to say this but it takes a little of the pleasure out of it for me to know that they now own it. I've become disenchanted with Fons & Porter since they have so obviously become "quilting moguls." I won't say any more because that's not the kind of thing this thread is all about. But I had the vision that it was a sort of mom & pop business that had grown into a wonderful success over the years. Anyhow, it's still a great place to get some good buys (when they're having a sale) on lovely fabric. 8-)

Wow I'm excited just listening to you all. I just ordered their catalog yesterday. Can't wait to see what I've been missing. yahoo.

It's true that their mailing seems to take longer. It took two weeks for me to get mine also. But apparently I wasn't in a hurry because I had forgotten all about it by the time it arrived.

I have not yet ordered anything from Keepsakes, but with all the praise I have read I should try then...I did make my first order of thread and some beautiful material from Connecting Threads...it was fast and I ordered enough that there was no shipping charges...the material is beautiful...can't wait to start a new quilt. Has anyone had any problems with Connecting Threads?

PKITTY1 12-15-2010 08:43 PM

I've ordered from them but not for a while. Their catalog is great. Their fabric is very good quality. I love their scrap bags. I do find that they are a little more expensive than others. And...there's always that pesky shipping and handling thing.

It was owned by a lady that lives in Wolfeboro and she is semi retired now. Yep, still a fun place. I may see what their New Year sale is like this year.

Their fabrics are all name brand...Moda, Kaufman, Hoffman...all the regulars you find in any LQS. They don't have their own brand of anything (not like Connecting Threads), they just make up the medleys and kits from name brand fabrics. They are really just an LQS that went global thanks to the internet, but to us up here they're still just an LQS. No need to worry about quality at all and if you're ever unhappy with anything, you can return it at any time for any reason, no questions asked.
