I belong to a guild at the Mooresville Sr. Center in Mooresville, NC. The general meeting is the 2nd Monday at 9:30AM. Then there are one or two other groups that meet separately to do charity quilts or other things. The charity goups meets the 4th Monday at 9:30AM. Come and join us. We have about 100 members but not all come to the meetings.

Hi, I am so sorry your were not made to feel as welcome as you should have been at out meetings. Sometimes it happens that way with a big group. I belong to that guild you were talking about and may have met you at our show. A guild can be so much fun but we do need to make a better effort at welcoming newcomers. Please come to our tie in and make yoursellf known to my friendship group ( a small group of quilting friends withing the larger organization) We would be happy to have you at our table to tie and I can introduce you to some folks and hope to make you feel at home among new friends. I personally have some health issues to deal with at present and may or may not be there but if I'm not, I will certainly have someone seek you out and bring you onboard. Please give us a second chance. Im sure we all feel uncomfortable in new settings sometimes but this should not be one of them.

I belong to a guild here in SW Florida. We meet once a week. We have our business meetings the third Monday of the month September to June. One Monday one of the gals will do an instructional class. Other times, we do blocks that are put together in charity quilts. We donate 200 quilts a year. We have over 85 members, though some are just here in the winter.

Our guild also makes adult bibs to put into Christmas stockings we make for shutins. I'll see if I can get a pattern for you. Where do I send it?

I belong to two guilds in my area, each has about 200 members. But my real joy is being part of a Friendship group, and I belong to three!
One church group (8 ladies) does only hand quilting, finishing quilt tops for people and donating the income to a cause of our choosing through the church.
The second one is the Philanthropic arm of one of the guilds (20-30+ quilters, it changes weekly), and this one is a hoot! We donated over 750 quilts just last year alone. We are able to longarm quilt most of our efforts (another team effort of 7-8 ladies), about 1400 quilts in 2 1/2 years!
The third is a great group that meets at the Presbyterian church (8 of us) where each of us does our own project, or teams up, or whatever we want to do. And of course we make quilts for worthy causes, about 25 quilts a year.

Guilds meets monthly, have a schedule, and need to take care of business. It's really not the best time nor place to make new friends. The real value of smaller groups outside of the guild is you are able to learn new techniques, make friends, and laugh!

I belong to a quilt club which started 15 years ago. We meet weekly in our community hall, have about 30 memers and no rules. We learn from each other, have a lot of laughs and go home at the endof the day content that we may have learned something and have contributed to good mental health. Some of the women make charity quilts but it is not a "must" to contribute. Jane














Our fees are $20 yearly. No hall rental. We raffle quilts once a year and usually make aoout $5,000 Money is give to comunity league so we don'tpay rent. Shop hop twice a year andattend numerous quilt shows. Guild had toomany rules! Just Jane, ulhurst Canada

I would also welcome the fellowship from other quilters. The group I belonged to had a lot of back biting going on. Women! So, I'm hesitant about making a commitment to go with another group. Maybe the Lutherans' group in Harrisonburg aren't as threatened by what kind of machine someone has!! LOL.

There is no quilt guild that I am aware of in my community and the nearest one it too much of a trip for me. The closest thing to a group is this wonderful web site. Thanks to all for your sharing.

I do belong to a small quilting guild called Stitch N Time, we do charity quilts. We also get together on weekends sometimes to travel around the countryside to the different quilt shows, finishing off with lunch. We meet twice a month monday evenings and we are capped at 20 members.Half of the members have husbands, half do not so the withouts also get together friday or sat nite and go to the movies, or stage show etc.We have lots of challenges given to us by our planning commitee. Also we have guest quilters on a saturday all day for a workshop at least 3-4 times a year.All in all we are very busy just with the one guild, no time for more and because its so small, its very intimate and personal, and we all like it that way.
