I belong to a guild with 100 members. We meet at a large church one night a month, every month of the year, for a structured meeting, which can include a lecture, trunk show, or demonstration by a guild member, local quilter, or nationally known teacher. Every meeting is slightly different but all include some sort of fellowship, refreshments and "Show n Tell."

The Guild hosts at least 5 workshops a year. Some are run by guild members, some by nationally known teachers like Ami Simms or Bonnie Hunter. We make a quilt to raffle every year, to raise money for these programs. We have a guild show every other October to raise money also.

We have a philanthropy group that meets monthly and makes quilts for Project Linus, Quilts for Kids, Quilts of Valor, Habitat for Humanity, and any community member who needs one.

We have an annual trip to quilt camp, about an hour away. usually 25-30 members fo to camp for 3-5 days and sew and sew and sew and laugh and eat and chat. It's heavenly.

I also belong to a small "bee" of 7 guild ladies. We meet one day each month at one anothers' homes. We each bring our own projects and our own "Show n Tell." We help each other make decisions on colors, what to use for borders, and in a time crunch, we help each other finish binding!

My small bee rents a house together at the NJ shore every September, and we spend the week together much like quilt camp-- sewing laughing chatting shopping and snacking.

I've made many close friends in guild, and my bee gals are like sisters to me. They enrich my life in so many ways!

I had a bad experience at my first meeting and never went back. I prefer to quilt alone.

I belong to The West Georgia Quilting Quild - we are about 60 members strong - we meet once a month but have "quilt-in every thurs.afternoon and bring what ever project we are working on - in feb. they have a quilt show all month in the local library - we also sew quilt and donate them to several organizations

The quilt guild I belong to, meets the first thursday of each month. There is just over 100 members, all females, except one male. $20. annually. Prior to the start of the business meeting, there is a half hour social, meet and greet. The meeting, show and tell and a program. We meet in a church. We have workshops, community quilt bees, and other special interest bees. A number of service groups are supported with quilts, toys, totes, pillowcases, etc.
It is a very friendly group and I have learned a lot since I have been a member.

Don't belong -- they meet in the evening -- not a night-time person. Been invited, thought about it, still after about 6pm for me is too late. I'm a morning person --just not for me.

i cant believe this topic came up !! i just came in from outside where i met a new friend she just moved to the area and we were talking she quilts also and is in a Quilt Guild and wants me to join or come with her Monday night to see if i like it so i am thinking about it they are haveing a trunk show that night and she did mention they have snacks and chocolate at every get together!!

I meet with 7-10 people in our local elementry school. We have been meeting together for approximately 18 years. We have new people who come and some who leave. We all work on our own projects but once in a while we work on something together. We meet for 10 week sesions for $45.00 3 times a year and had to designate one of us as an instructor in order to hold the sessions in the school. The peple are all very nice, friendly and supportative and of all ages.

I did belong to the local quilt guild, but I found that the level of actual quilting I get done goes down, and I start feeling pressured. Please understand, they are a wonderful friendly group, and I like them all, they just have more time/passion to devote to all the projects they do. I was looking more for a sewing group as opposed to political type group. I still go to all the quilt shows, and wish them well, it's just not my cup of tea.

I am President of our local quilt guild. 3 years ago we started out with 30 people and today we have about 85. Our meetings are on the 3rd Tues. of each month, Jan - Nov. We meet, greet and snack from 5:30-6:00 approx., have a short business meeting, followed by either a guest speaker or program by a member and then we have show and tell. We have work days once a month when we work on charity items or learn a new technique. Our quilt show is held every other year so we are getting ready for our largest one yet in 2011.

The guild here is NYC costs $55. They have a speaker every month and a workshop. Raffles, vendors, freebie table, you name it. A lot of high energy & the show & tell is amazing. Also a lot of chit-chat .
