Usually steam. Have even spritzed with water if steam still not enough, or I'll use steam and starch.

I do this, too. Also, I got tired of buying distilled water. Our water is hard and hard on appliances. :-)

I use steam and sometimes spray sizing (never starch). I do use an expensive Rowenta because it is the heaviest iron I've ever used and I like the stainless steel bottom. I like it heavy so that I don't have to push down hard. My daughter (who is not a quilter) couldn't understand why I would pay so much for an iron --- until she tried it and then she bought one for herself as she said it's the only iron she's ever seen that levitates when you press "steam".

The most important thing is to never, ever "iron".
Always "press" and you'll never have distortion or stretching.

I use a hot dry iron and if a seam gets pressed wrong, I spray with water. Works for me. I always press, iron the backings if they are very wrinkled.

I've found that if I use steam, the fabric seems to stretch much easier, so when I'm piecing, I only use a dry iron. Just me...

I use a very hot iron, Best Press and steam

I use a dry hot iron. And yes, I press not iron. If there is a stubborn wrinkle then I have both a water bottle and starch handy. Ususally the water will take care of it. I do find that I like to starch a lighter cheap cotton which allows for more accuate cutting and helps with machine quilting. Just my 2 cents
