Do you have this book?

Organizing Solutions for Every Quilter: An Illustrated Guide to the Space of Your Dreams
By:
Carolyn Woods

My DH ordered this book for me. The reviews are great, just wondering if any of you have it, and if so, do you like it?
Thanks in Advance :) Beckie

HollyDav 12-28-2011 04:07 AM

I don't have that book but I followed the link and it looks awesome. When it comes to organizing, I need all the help I can get. I got 2 Barnes & Nobels GCs so I'm thinking that book may go on my list. :-)

joysewer 12-28-2011 05:12 AM

I don't have the book but I requested it at the library last week so I should get a call about it any day now.

ksdot417 12-28-2011 05:15 AM

I have the book and absolutely love it. Every quilter should have it. Has great ideas for every space. I have several books on organization and this one is without a doubt the best for quilters. This woman understands.

coldquilter 12-28-2011 05:18 AM

It sure sounds great, let us know what you think. I am tempted to order it though as it has excellent reviews.

michelehuston 12-28-2011 05:57 AM

I don't have it, but hink I may have ordered it? Will let you know if I get it...lol

patchsamkim 12-28-2011 06:38 AM

Don't have it but always fun looking at other sewing rooms and getting organizational ideas...will have to see if I can borrow it through our library.

tucsonquilter 12-28-2011 07:02 AM

I ordered that book yesterday from Amazon.com. Cant wait until it gets here.

lfstamper 12-28-2011 07:03 AM

Sounds great - on my list. What is your favorite tip or idea?

#1piecemaker 12-28-2011 07:07 AM

I haven't got one yet. Maybe I should because I defitiely need to get organized!!

Ginny B 12-28-2011 07:24 AM

I ordered it for my Kindle (that I just got for Christmas!). I figure it this way: #1 it's cheaper to order the Kindle version and #2 it will keep another "thing" out of my sewing room - which is part of the point of the book, reducing and organizing "things".

DebraK 12-28-2011 07:42 AM

I have it, but never really used it, though I still enjoy looking at it when I run across it. Hubs gave it to me.

SooBDo 12-28-2011 07:53 AM

I don't have that one, but I do have Creating Your Perfect Quilting Space: Sewing-Room Makeovers for Any Space and Any Budget by Lois L. Hallock (Nov 2005), which I just picked up again. If your book is anything like this one, it should break design ideas down by area. Have fun instituting some of her suggestions!

Momyar 12-28-2011 07:56 AM

I have this book and love it!! It's great! I had been doing some of the things without even knowing.

Good luck to those that have it!

rrbrown 12-28-2011 08:05 AM

What I read looks and sounds like I need that book.

I'm actually fairly organized on my own, but there are some interesting ideas. The things I want really require more space, but that's okay. I do fine with what I have. Once the boy leaves, all my stuff moves out to the living room with DH's blessings ;-) The longarm is already out there.

AliKat 12-28-2011 08:12 AM

I much prefer the other older book:

Creating Your Perfect Quilting Space: Sewing-Room Makeovers for Any Space and Any Budget by Lois L. Hallock (Nov 2005)

It was more helpful for me. I have read/reread it many times. That is how I get so much into my small space studio.

I just had to look at the book you were talking about. I just got a Kindle Fire for Christmas, and guess what? I got the Kindle edition. When I go home tonight, I will have it on my Kindle. Yeah! Thanks for sharing the link and book. I can't wait to read it.

Great thinking! I just got it for my Kindle Fire. The KF shows all the pictures in color. No Kindle? or only black and white Kindle or Nook, get the free Kindle app for your computer, works the same. I can really free up some space if I could get all my quilting books digital.

wuv2quilt 12-28-2011 04:13 PM

My book came today! Lots of great ideas! The only one I may have trouble with is........GIVING away fabric that I don't use........WHEW, I just knew that lightening was going to strike me :D. Guess I'll keep reading. So far I LOVE the book,....Hope that those of you that ordered love it too.

this is specific to sewing spaces rather than just quilting and was so good, i bought it for a friend...the hints, tips and room plans and ideas are wonderful.

toadmomma 12-29-2011 04:21 AM

Looks like a great book not just for the sewing room but every room, have to get it

Chele 12-29-2011 04:40 AM

Looks like a good book!

homecaregiver 12-29-2011 04:58 AM

I also followed the link and boy this looks like a book I need. Will have to check the library until I can get my own
Thanks for sharing.
Pat

sewnbug 12-29-2011 07:27 AM

I too, need all the help I can get with organization. May have to get this book.

doowopddbop 12-29-2011 08:20 AM

Thanks so much for the link! The preview on Amazon looks like the perfect book for me - I am in the middle of organizing, prioritizing, streamlining, and simplifying right now. I HAVE to! Starting next week, I begin a new journey with my other passion: singing. I start Choir School and rehearsals with a training choir in preparation to performing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Of course I'm thrilled, it's a lifelong dream, but I will have to simplify other things, starting in the sewing room. Whoo! here I go! I'm ordering it today. So glad you posted this, Beckie!

crafterrn1 12-29-2011 08:21 AM

Thanks for the tip and the link. I am pretty well organized but we can always learn something new! Luann

Linda - K. 12-29-2011 09:46 AM

I bookmarked that page and just might have to order that! Looks like her area is neat as a pin!

michelehuston 12-30-2011 03:44 AM

Well, I did order it and got it yesterday! lol Some good ideas, just have to find the time to get busy!

I have this one. And am going to look in the library for others. I am getting so frustrated. I physically can't do the work of building stuff anymore, don't have the money to buy and my brother takes for ever to do things for me. I have a china cabinet that needed the little woodens strips replaced that holds the glass and it took him a year to do that. ACK. Somedays I am ready to just chuck it all. LOL Well back to reading .

BettyGee 12-30-2011 06:28 AM

After reading your post I checked the book out on Amazon and ordered it. Many thanks for the info. I love your signature statement about happiness. Thank you.

I just received this book and it looks really great ! I only wish that I had some space that was not shared with
my family so that I could use more of the ideas.... constantly moving my sewing/quilting space seems to contribute
to messiness--someone tries to help me move and !!!!

"Where is my ---- ?" happens too often around here. I am sure others share my problems.

Cool AZ quilter 12-30-2011 07:57 AM

I don't have the book. However, I have been to one of her lectures. It was inspiring.

sewlilly 12-30-2011 08:06 AM

Michele - I noticed that your posting time was either really early or really late! I am also up some nights and glad to see there is probably someone out there to converse with - I also understanding ordering a book and not quite sure what it was you ordered until you get it in - enjoy the book

starshine 12-30-2011 08:23 PM

Don't have it but sounds like something I should have too.

Judie 12-31-2011 09:00 PM

Hubby gave it to me for Christmas.. When our house gets built, I'm going to set up me sewing room in an organized way and start off right.. I love the book and I'm sure I'll use many of her ideas.. What a great book.. (except the part about giving away fabrics you don't think you'll use.. . how am I supposed to know?? )

kathdavis 01-01-2012 12:32 AM

Just requested at library. Can't wait to see it.

earthwalker 01-01-2012 12:37 AM

No but I probably could do with it.

romanojg 01-01-2012 06:56 AM

I just ordered it for around 11 from Barnes and Noble for my Nook. Thanks.
