Oh my goodness! We were walking through wal-mart recently and my son had thread all over his back! I think he was rolling around on the floor again! LOL I just started laughing and picking thread off of him. I think it just goes with the territory of being quilters! It's our job hazard!

Sure (smile).

4 year old Grandson saw a long thread on his mother (a non-sewer) and said - Oh, this must belong to MiMi and picked it off of her and put it on me !!!! I guess he's seen way too many threads on me .......
WHEN QUILTING I JUST SAY I'M JIG PEN'S (CARTOON LITTLE KID)TWIN, WALK ACROSS THE ROOM AND LEAVE A TRAIL OF THREADS.
THATS MY CRUM TRAIL BACK TO THE SEWING MACHINE:) |

I consider it advertising. Surely does start conversations with non-quilters and non-sewers.

yes, and many times I forget to brush the threads off before heading out
I even bought a lint roller to keep in my car!
Always. Those are my medals of honor! Even left the house with my needle puller on my hand...;-)
Have fun quilting! Anymart |
Yes, but I feel very official when I go fabric shopping or to a quilting meeting.
Yes, and I picked them off my mother too.lol
Worse than thread are those little dog ears. They stick to your socks and then you find them in every single room in the house and on your pants! Adds color to your carpet!
I went to my evening quilting group, and i noticed the woman hadn't vaccuumed. Then i realized all the lint was coming off my slippers.
We laughed on our hands and knees picking all the threads off her carpet. MK |
Yes, and it's just a part of my normal grooming! :D
Threads are part of the territory. However, what really cathces them, is a scrap of batting on your lap, in front of or right next to the sewing machine, or even just perched on your bosom. It acts asa thread magnet.
Wish I had thought of that a long time ago. Wearing shirt inside out is a great idea.
I don't even check anymore. People who see me expect threads!! Hee, hee
I can think of worse things to find on me and have--fabric dryer sheets for one.

No dog or cat hairs, just the annoying stray threads ! :) anyone else? |

Of course I do! I wouldn't be a good quilter if I didn't. I also have hair from 4 dogs (2 light colored and 2 dark) and of course my own. I think I shed more than the dogs! I have lint rollers in every room of the house as well as in the garage and in each car. I'm glad that I can get them at the dollar store! Even so, I still find threads while walking around the stores. How do I get them on my back?
My guess... if you see some hanging thread on someone, go say hello because you've got things in common.
My sweet husband checks me for bits & pieces, stray threads, and occaisionally a selvege stuck to my shoe like a strip of toilet paper.... if he isn't there... someon at work, the store, Dr. office, whatever usually mentions it. i look at it as part of my 'charm'...
Threads on my clothes, pins on my blouse or sweater, are normal way of living, for me. A cashier at the grocery asked me why I was wearing a thimble
My friends are always pulling threads off of me!

I always am covered in thread!! My cat seems to wear snippets as well...not sure how that happens.. :?

Hey , we wouldn't be quilters if we didn't have thread on us. I have to check my Husband for threads also!
If I didn't have a few loose threads on me, my friends wouldn't recognize me. LOL. I look for others with those pesky threads on them, looking for other quilters.

The batting really does work. I made a piece that I use as an apron and catches the majority of them now. If that doesn't.. ha ha ha my winter fuzzy slippers do. They use to be black, but now are multi-colored. These are fresh washed also. So they are my sewing slippers. ha ha ha

Yesterday I was waiting in the doctor's office and picking threads off the bottom of my pants. I hadn't even sewn yesterday!
Cooks wear aprons, nurses wear cutsie tops, pharmacist wear white jackets, quilters wear threads. So........?
Yes, depending on what I am wearing, I sometimes wear an apron. The threads are on it and not me! I read that tip somewhere.
Always have some kind of threads or usually it's glitter on my face attached to some part of my clothing.... people always wonder what the heck I do on my lunch hour :)
These posts have been so fun ! There has to be a short story in this post somewhere. Makes me wish I could write.. I hope this keeps on going ! Fun to read! Thanks everyone !
