I use the seam ripper often. Plus, I trim all frayed edges off my fabrics as I sew/quilt.. Therefore, I have a lot of stray threads.

No dog or cat hairs, just the annoying stray threads ! :)

anyone else?

crafty pat 10-25-2011 08:59 AM

yes and then sometimes I miss a few.

Kathios 10-25-2011 09:00 AM

A quilting buddy of mine recommends that you wear your top inside out while quilting. When you are ready to go out, turn your top right side out, and no threads!

Opal Jane 10-25-2011 09:01 AM

Not only thread but cat hair. It can be embarassing when someone at work picks a clump of cat hair off me, not as embarassed if they pick off a thread or two.

quiltbugs 10-25-2011 09:01 AM

Yup, I also check my hair for threads. And I have a lint roller in just about every room.

Sadiemae 10-25-2011 09:02 AM

Poodles don't shed(so no dog hair), but I definitely have threads on me and once in awhile I find them on her.

3incollege 10-25-2011 09:03 AM

always! went to a public restroom and there they were on the floor. Not mine, but I guess there was an other quilter around.

SWEETPEACHES 10-25-2011 09:04 AM

And on my socks!

chairjogger 10-25-2011 09:08 AM

I miss my facebook like button on these.. funny about the socks and finding another quilter threads in the restroom. inside out clothes tip.. this is fun ! thanks for posting ! hope to see more !

Yup, everyday.

SueDid 10-25-2011 09:18 AM

oh my, yes, all of the time.

It's not as noticeable in the summer, but in the winter I have a lot of black and brown (slacks, skirts, jackets) and I have to really check them before I go out.

I've more than once sat in church and picked off a few threads...AFTER sitting down from singing.

Sandee 10-25-2011 09:27 AM

Yes.. & some how they come out of the washer & dryer still attached to some things...bummer!

LisaGibbs 10-25-2011 09:35 AM

Yes, and so does my husband. My co-workers are getting used to it.

I wouldn't remember to do that.

SueDid 10-25-2011 09:38 AM

LOL, me either, I'd go out, do all my errands and discover when I got home my top was inside out the whole time!

mpspeedy 10-25-2011 09:51 AM

Oh! YOu mean thread wasn't your main accessory? My outfit wouldn't be complete without some.

QuiltnNan 10-25-2011 09:54 AM

i'm a clean as you go person, so i take the time to place all my threads in a neat pile or directly in the trash bin if one is near. i'm the same way with the kitchen. i just hate general cleaning.

bamamama 10-25-2011 09:55 AM

My husband tells me "You're all strung out again!" Glad its just quilting I'm addicted to.

bjeriann 10-25-2011 09:58 AM

My family and friends are so used to the strings, they would think I quit sewing if I showed up stringless. My DH can tell how much sewing I have done by the amount of strings on me and the cats & dog.

me0wp00 10-25-2011 10:06 AM

most of the time I'm rushing out to pick up the kids from school and don't even check, often have threads on trousers, jumpers and coats....

great idea. Thanks

Buckeye Rose 10-25-2011 10:10 AM

my kids always know when I have been in the sewing room....stray threads on my clothes, shoes, hair.....doesn't bother me at home, but when I find them when I am on the go....rather embarassing

starshine 10-25-2011 10:15 AM

I'm usually finding stray threads when I prewash fabrics with a load of laundry. Trying to just do them with towels or sheets.;-)

the old one 10-25-2011 10:37 AM

Of course I do, and Sunday morning during the church service, I noticed a thread on my husband's trouser leg, he must have brushed against my sewing table in the den. piecefully, the old one

memepat 10-25-2011 11:00 AM

I usually use a utility (bib) apron when I'm using the longarm for the pockets. The pockets are great for threads, scissors, ets. This keeps some of the threads off my clothes but not near all of them.

ChaiQuilter 10-25-2011 11:10 AM

I was walking around the other day with a long blue thread hanging off my shoulder...

chairjogger 10-25-2011 11:13 AM

Looks like a hit for a post.. Lots of people, same dilemma.. ! This is fun to read!

snipforfun 10-25-2011 11:30 AM

Yes, I find "quilt poop" on me all the time! Helps to wear an old tricot nightgown over your clothes.

SuzyQ 10-25-2011 11:46 AM

Yep here too. Course, I also have dog hair LOL. I should check before leaving the house, but I usually find it after I've gotten to work. I love both my fabric and by dog so I don't sweat the small stuff and if someone is offended too bad LOL

Yes...yes I do... lol The other day I came in the back door having been outside with my little Jack Russel "Bitsi Boo." I noticed she had something stuck to her little butt... it was a gob of thread all bunched up and stuck to her like it was velcro'd... I cracked up seeing this, so not only do I have to pick it off of me but my little dog too...

When I sew I don't have anything on that is suitable for going out of the house. I have flannel pants and a thermal shirt that is my quilting attire!

chairjogger 10-25-2011 01:53 PM

Poor Bitsy Boo !

Covered in Threads 10-25-2011 02:14 PM

Notice the ID "Covered in Threads". That's just how it is. My DH also calls me a thread magnet. But I secretly love the attention it gets me. Others might be anoid but for me it's a conversation piece! ;-)

SuziC 10-25-2011 02:31 PM

Yes! That's why i stopped wearing just socks in my sewing room. I was tracking thread all over the house!!!!

Now you quilt naked, not even socks??

OneMoreQuilt 10-25-2011 02:41 PM

My family and friends check for me too!!! I keep a lint roller in my car for the ones I miss.

ccrow99 10-25-2011 03:30 PM

On me...on socks....on clothes...and on the dog, all the time. Makes me giggle.

Janetlmt 10-25-2011 03:40 PM

LOL...I always have thread hanging on something. DH pointed to his sweatshirt the other day. "where did this come from?" It was a long piece of thread.
Today I went to physical therapy for my foot. I had to take my sock off..and the girl chuckled. She said "I can tell you are a sewer, there is threads stuck to the bottom of your foot."
