I got my instructions from "The Border Workbook". Love this book. It tells you how to make a pieced border to fit YOUR quilt, and includes corner treatments.

I have a pretty piece of material with Irises, too pretty to cut small. I want to make a table runner & make the twisted ribbon border. I will post a picture when I am done :) Thank you again, you all are awesom.

It's called a Ribbon border. That may help you when doing a search for different versions of it.

Eleanor Burns does this and it is easy. The way she makes it is with 1/2 triangle and 1/4 triangle squares. It is the placement of the colors that make the ribbon...

I believe the 'ribbon' binding is a piece of striped fabric cut on the bias & used for the binding! ??? That's what I woud do anyway.

go to quilt blocks galore then to quilterscashe and on the lower right side of the home page there is a border section. that is called the ribbon.
