A quilt buddy called and said "Hey, I talked to Cathy and she was making a pot of chili. I said why not bring it over to my house tomorrow and we can have a sew day. She said let's ask Karen and Betty to come too. I said let's call Bellaboo, oh I forgot she's babysitting her grandson, let's go to her house. So we will be there at 10 am with food. See you tomorrow".

LOL! I love my friends. :)

Envious over here! My bestest quilt buddy moved very far away, so we can only quilt together virtually.

Envy...I am finding if not for this board...most often quilting is a lonely hobby/sport..time passer. Enjoy every min.of your day and bless your hearts that a little one does not stop your visiting !

I cannot should JEALOUS loud enough! Envious, the whole shebang. No family or friends quilt but someday I hope to be a part of a group or guild or circle. Not there yet, still finding my way around what I can and cannot do. Enjoying the quiet right now.

My quilting buddy used to live next door. She passed away a year ago though. It was so fun to sit and chat about our quilting projects share patterns and plan shopping trips together. Boy do I ever miss that!

Oh well, that was a total miracle to have a buddy next door! I thank god for her still.

I have thought about joining a guild, but, the weather or my health doesn't always allow me to go anyways.

I love my quilting friends! We meet at the library the first Sat. of every month, 9 to 4. We have a pitch in and sew all day. We are all making the same quilt, but each has her own color way. We all do the same block every time. when the blocks are all made, we set them together how ever we want, then bring them back for Show and Tell. Then we all decide on the next pattern we want to make. We have been doing this for about 4 years now. If the Library tells us we can not use our room because of something else going on that day, we plan a road trip, to quilt shops. The last time we went to Waynesville Ohio to The Fabric shack. Great shop. I am 64 and live alone, don't know what I would do without my quilting friends!!

Oh - I am so envious, and so sad. My long, long time quilting best friend forever passed away from pancreatic cancer in late November. She was only 54 years old, and was the most awesome woman. I miss her every day, and will miss her even more when I return to FL, where we both lived for over 20 years. RIP Brenda, and I will be finishing the Christmas quilts for your kids/grandkids for next year.

I am very blessed with quilt friends. When I retired from teaching I knew I wouldn't see my school friends much, and it made me a little sad. So I prayed and asked God for friends. A woman I had known for a long time asked if I would like to learn to quilt. She sent me to the LQS. Everyone there was so nice and I made friends. Then I met a woman I had worked with many years ago in the shop. We resumed our friendship. I started going to classes there and met even more wonderful women. Out of all that I now belong to two guilds, one large, one small; I quilt at the LQS one day a week and my church one day a week; have traveled to Paducah and other places with friends. I am SO BLESSED AND THANKFUL. I am also thankful for this board. I enjoy your pictures and threads. Lisa

you're so lucky to have a group of buddies like that - my best friend/crafting co-hort in crime passed away nearly 4 years ago and I miss her every day. I'm sure she's looking over my shoulder now with every stitch I make.

Now how great was that---special people for sure.

My quilt buddy clocks in around 9 on a Saturday and often only leaves around 4 or 5. We yap and sew and cut and design and ooh and ah over each other's work while the DDs provide tea and lunch. The DDs often also hang around the sewing room on some project or to share opinions and advice. Fun, fun, fun. And we actually get a lot of quilting and piecing done.

A quilting buddy is great for pushing you to get your UFO's done! I live in an apartment and kept hearing a rumbling noise from the apartment above me - it would go on for hours at a time. Finally got up my courage one day and knocked on the door to ask what the noise was. I knew that if I knew what it was, it wouldn't bother me so much. Turns out that my male upstairs neighbor was making quilts on his Janome on a glass table directly over my bed. Needless to say, the noise doesn't bother me any more and we now quilt together either at his place, my place, or in the "party room" of the building where we can use the large banquet tables and invite his other quilting buddies to join us.

How lucky you are, Bellyboo! Loved reading the responses. After moving to Colorado, it was hard to make new friends other than at work. After retirement, I joined the local guild and I am blessed with great quilt friends galore!

I would love to have quilting buddies like this. I have all but begged my sister to quilt with me. she made one quilt but had our neighbor to teach her.

We should all be so lucky! I have a great quilty friend who lives right up the street from me. Since I "retired" a few weeks ago, we have gotten together nearly every week. We have yet to actually do any sewing or quilting together, but we do inspire each other. We are very different in many ways, but we challenge one another. Even our approach to quilting is different, but we get along. And she's about the only one who really understands my obsession! Once the holidays are past we have to have a quilt-along at my house. Anybody live in Birmingham?

I don't have a quilting buddy to quilt at home but my LQS has Judy Niemeyer Wednesday every 4th Wed. of the month and I go there. If you are enrolled in a class it's free for the afternoon, if you have taken a class and want to go work on it then it's $10.00, the instructor is there from 1:00 to 7:00 on that day. I did take a class and went a couple of times but with the holidays coming and other problems havn't gotten to go in a couple of months but I will go back after the holidays. I really loved it, everyone was so nice and had such a great time. I would love to have a buddy to call and do that vey thing unfortunately I don't.

Besides my church quilting friends who meet monthly, and my retreat quilting friends who meet for a weekend every summer, and my long-distance (other states) quilting friends who share by phone and email, I have a get together group. All our husbands are interested in model railroads so when they gather at each others houses, so do we. We help with quilts, or bring any other sewing or needlework projects we have. They recently help me cut out a costume for the Nutcracker Ballet.
And of course we talk and eat and laugh!

My quilt friends are 2hrs away & 10 Hrs away. I'm jealous. Have a wonderful day

I have a group of friends who get together once a month to quilt. I'm the newbie in the group and really rely on the other ladies' expertise and input when I make a quilt or wallhanging. Not sure what I'd do without my quilting friends!

I wish I had a group like yours. I have only one quilting buddy, and she likes to come over to play. We've talked about starting a quilting group at church, but there doesn't seem to be much interest in it.

Totally jealous. I am a "solitary quilter" for sure.....

It is a blessing to have lady friends, even more so when they are quilters. I belong to several groups of friends that each meet once a month to sew, eat, visit, and help each other. We have a wonderful time and miss each other terribly when one of us can't make a get together. Learning to quilt and the ladies I've met has been the best part of my life, except for my DH of course.

Yes I do. I have three different groups I do it with. We do this regularly. One group is once a quarter-rotating hostesses, one is as we can usually at my house and the other is twice a year for a big bash that I hostess.

Saturday, I am having 10 people at my house for two days--open house style. Come when you can, bring a dish to pass, your project and machine and a sense of humor. Five are experienced quilters and five are non-quilters. I usually invite 15 ish.

When I lived in southern California (moved from there in 92) I had a wonderful friend, Paula, and we used to quilt together often, but then I moved away. Now in SC, I noticed several on the QB who listed SC as their location, so I PM'd each one. We all live within a 2 hour drive of each other. So far we have gotten together 3 times, twice at restaurants for lunch, and once at my home for the afternoon. Our next get together will be a trip to Mary Jo's in Gastonia, NC. Quilting friends are great.

I have a group of friends living close. When one knew I was getting lonely after an operation earlier this year she drove over to take me to class. Later I returned favour by having a sewing day at her house. We also have visits to a quilt shop and we stop for lunch on the way back. Quilting has given me so many reliable friends.

Those of you that have a friend or friends to get together with, quilting or not, are very, very blessed.

Your friends sound great! I don't have any quilting friends at home (mine or theirs), but I'm almost healed from ACDF surgery and hope to start going to classes and charity sewing meetups at the LQS once a month pretty soon.

btw now I'm craving chili, and not the canned junk, thanks! :D

Enjoy your day with your friends. I just moved to a new town and don't know any one. I would love to have quilting buddies, sometimes it is hard to get anything done without a nudge.

Wow.....this is neat. I do not have any friends here at all, much less someone that quilts. It is pretty lonely for me. My bestest friend, my hubby is wonderful, but I would love to find friends......
