Has anyone tried the bias method of making hst Here is one link to a tutorial although there are others. The secret is to starch the heck out of your fabric before you start. I have done this and made perfect hst. It is especially good for very small hsts. One thing I love about it , is you press your seams after you sew each strip together. When you cut them apart, you are done. I like pressing the seams open, it makes them lay flatter.

Thanks Lanny!! :-D

I never try a scant 1/4 in seam. I have never figured out how you can maintain the scant. Even if the instructions say scant I never do a scant. I have found if I go ahead and use the 1/4 in seam throughout the quilt, it all comes out great.

Great block! I appreciate all the comments and now have a new pattern to figure out for making the quilt!

I may convert it to those blankety blank HST's and make this for more practice. :) |
Love this block because it can be made with only HSTs.

Why do you refer to them as "blankety blank HSTs?" Just curious. |
What's an HST?
