I have one small poodle(Molly), and since I quilt in the living room she is with me.

If I tried to keep my cats out of the room, I'd hear nothing but wailing and scratching! They have the full run of the room and often try to help. My avatar likes to supervise my ironing and help the thread move off the spool as I sew. She likes to squeeze under the closed cabinet and make sure the foot control is OK. My other cat just likes to lay on the chair. |
Trudy follows me everywhere. She has a bed upxstairs and a bed downstairs along with toys on both levels. She goes where she wants, and rarely bothers me when I am sewing - unless she wants to go out

My sewing room is in the basement and no I don't let the cats down there, much as they want to. I also sew for profit so I can't have cat fur on customer's garments and curtains.

I finally gave up and put the bean bag footstools under the table so they can lay close to me. Sometime though the cats will go by and reach up and smack my arm just to let me know they are still there.
They go where they want or you could hear them a mile away with their caterwauling. Since they are home more than me, they let me in to feed and adore them...they tolerate me and DH. |
My dog supervises my sewing. Sometimes she punctuates the movie I have on with snores. She has to move every time I move to cut, or iron, or use the machine. Sometimes she supervises from the hallway when she gets tired of all the moving.

i allow my cats in my upstairs studio but not in my downstairs studio.
my stash is kept downstairs and i do all client work downstairs. when i'm doing my own work i do it upstairs. |
My catbeast helps by sitting in the middle of whatever I'm doing. He also knocks things off the desk or table when he decides I'm done with it. He's just keeping my workspace clear...

goodness no, i don't let mine in. i have 3 cats now. my earlier cat, we lost at 17 years, had evidently eaten a tiny, tiny bit of poly batting and started throwing up everything. he ended up getting a barium enema and x-ray and another enema to get rid of the barium.
so my 3 stay out. i have a bi-fold door and have to put a gallon of distilled water in front of it to keep them from opening it. but they behave and wait for me. |
