We have a little weiner dog and she has her own quilt in the sewing room. She comes in and sleeps while I sew and when she thinks we've been there long enough, she tells me she needs to go out! She never bothers anything, just needs to be close.

Hi vschieve, thanks - isn't it funny how many of us put our pets in our avatars - love that yours is guarding the window! We don't know what she is since we got her at a shelter. But we've decided she's at least part Norwegian Forest Cat based on her body and fur. She's a calico but without the big splotches of color. The shelter called her a tortiecal because her non-white fur is more mottled than splotchy.

That's a very true statement. And my kitties take their jobs seriously.

My cats love my sewing room also, but I try to keep them out because when they get in I find all my common pins pulled from the cushion and on the floor.

If I tried to keep my cats out of the room, I'd hear nothing but wailing and scratching! They have the full run of the room and often try to help.

My avatar likes to supervise my ironing and help the thread move off the spool as I sew. She likes to squeeze under the closed cabinet and make sure the foot control is OK. My other cat just likes to lay on the chair.

I have an animal gate across my sewing room door. If I let the cats in, there's cat hair everywhere. My little dog isn't interested.

I could not possibly do any quilting without the constant supervision of my dog, Casey. He is a great multi-tasker. He can nap and supervise at the same time He is a s sweet, 12 yo lasa apso.

My boys, Rowdy and Jasper are always on hand - usually keeping the rug next to my machine from flying away. The take their job seriously though and if I ever tried to shut them outside of the room when I was in there it would be painful to listen to their pitiful moans and groans at being left out.

They often lay on the floor or the 2 big dogs will rest their head on my knee.

Here are pictures of my 4 dogs.
