I have a screen door at the entrance of the studio. YES a screen door in place of the original door. There is a perch outside the door where the kitties lay and watch the "goings on" It works for me. Keeps fir from the fabrics and keeps them out of threads or pins that might migrate to the floor. I made a curtain that I can pull closed when I am not in the room.

I have 3 non-shedding fur-faces in the house and they keep me company no matter what I'm doing. Never any doggie-hairs anywhere - one of the main reasons they are allowed to come and go when and wherever they choose.

I have two kittens abt 6 mos old that I adopted from pet rescue. They help me a lot. They inspect everything. I have to remember to close my rotary cutter, box up my projects before leaving the room.

I have 2 Goldens and and Yorkie-Poo, known as "the girls". The two big girls lay at the doorway, just in case I might try to make a break for it; the little one has a bed under the sewing table and keeps 1 eye open, incase the other 2 girls don't tell her I have left. LOL

Cats are more stubborn than dogs. I have only ever been able to train my cat to a certain degree. She roams the house. No matter how hard I have tried to get her to stay off counters and tables etc. It hasn't happened yet. But she is a great mouser :)

my cat would have a fit if she was locked out of my room. She's usually pretty good except when she wants to nap on the ironing board. I've actually "shared" it with her before but typically she comes in and lays on the bed (I have a twin in the room) or on my daughters table which is at a window - she loves when the sun is shining to lay on the table.

my kitty likes to keep my fabric warm - especially the "to be ironed pile". She also will find the pins I've dropped on the floor and move them around for me. But her main job is to supervise and keep an eye on me.

Andy helps by holding down the floor. Of course if I happen to have a quilt or fabric laying on the floor he tests it but mostly this is what he does.

My two dogs follow me EVERYWHERE, just to make sure I'm in the house. I have to step over them to get to the ironing board.
