Do you make Project Linus quilts?

I just found out that Quilting Treasures is going to be designing a collection for Project Linus. My sales rep called me today to tell me about it, and then I did a quick search online and found a blog post that tells a little more about it: http://www.blogs.fabshopnet.com/blog...project-linus/

If you want to see all of the fabrics follow this link: http://www.blogs.fabshopnet.com/blog...ojectLinus.jpg

I told the sales rep that most of the people I know, who do Project Linus quilts, are making them from donated fabrics or marked-down fabrics, not buying new. However, the two main fabrics from this collection are adorable! And the Snoopy designs are very cute too.

If you make Project Linus quilts, do you every buy new fabrics for them? Or do you have enough donated fabrics and/or stash to draw on?

Do you think that it's the Project Linus quilters who would buy this line? Or is it more likely to be folks who just like the Peanuts characters?

I do make quilts for Project Linus....mostly with donated fabric, or fabric from my stash.

The fabrics from Quilting Treasures are nice...especially the Linus fabric and the Snoopy one...but I do think the major buyers will be Peanuts lovers, not necessarily people making quilts for Project Linus.

These fabrics are sooo cute. I'll bet anyone who likes peanuts as well as Project Linus quiltmakers will buy it. I love these. I would prefer not to have the words "Project Linus" but that is just my own personal preference. There seems to be enough colors and patterns to use even without those particular fabrics. I am sure some people will like them.

I think your going to have more people buying because they like the characters and using it for personal quilts. Personally I plan on making Project Linus quilts from my stash.

Yes, I rarely purchase fabrics (other than what might be needed for filling in) for my charity quilts. However, I think this line of fabrics will be used by Linus blanketeers. Our chapter makes fabric postcards for thank you notes out of any fabric that has Linus on it, and this would be perfect! I can see chapters making banners or "poster quilts" out of the fabric for their presentations to groups.

In the past, when Project Linus has had a line of fabric designed for them, a small portion of the sales has been donated by the designer and/or manufacturer to the national headquarters of Project Linus. This sweetens the deal for quilters who want to support Linus even if they don't donate quilts. If some portion of this line's sales will be donated, then it is beneficial to have that fact noted at the store for potential buyers.

I make a lot of Project Linus quilts and use donated as well as purchased fabrics. The fabric is adorable. I agree, if we could buy it at a discount by showing our Project Linus name tag (like I do at my lqs), I'm sure more would use it. It would be adorable for backings on the quilts.

I can see many "peanuts" themed nurseries in the next few years. Nostalgic for the parents and visually pleasing & interesting for the babies. Peanuts characters & Dr. Seuss they never get old or out of style!

90% of my charity quilts come from donated and stash fabric.

That fabric would go into my Peanuts stash which is for me and my Goddaughter.

Quilting Treasures is going to be donating a portion of the proceeds to Project Linus.

Project Linus quilters usually are loosely associated in groups, aren't they? Do you think that offering a full-bolt-discount would be a good way to make the fabric more affordable to them? You see, I sell online, so it's not like I have the ability to "see" anyone's name tag. What I'm thinking is that a group could purchase a bolt and split it.

I agree. I don't care for those either. I think you could easily substitute solids or marbles or any small-scale "textures" for all of those.
