I have a binding maker machine that presses the fabric as it goes though the machine. Love it have saved more than enough to pay for the binder machine twice over.

I press also, before attaching the binding.

I don't press it anymore or pin it either and it goes on just fine!

I just recently stopped pressing my binding before sewing.... tip was on this board not sure whom posted it... My binding was so easy to press after and then I hand stitch it to the back of my quilt. the mitered corners look very nice also. I would say give it a try and see what works best for you. It seem like less stress on the binding strip.

I press it open flat as I press the joined pieces together, I then fold lengthwise and don't press the fold. I find that it's easier and less of a hassle to not have to be confined to matching the fold when I turn the binding to the back to stitch it down.

I press before I sew it on and sometimes after it is done.

I press binding after attaching it by machine to the quilt and before hand finishing the binding . If you press it over the edge of the quilt, you won't need to pin and probably won't need to clip. Most people won't even try it! I have never thought about pressing after finishing the handwork, but will on the next project to see how that works. froggyintexas

I press my binding before attaching and after. I like it to lay flat.

I do not press my binding before putting it on. I do fold it and wrap around a toilet paper holder and leave it for at least 2 hrs then it stays together but does not make a crease. I only press after finished if it tends to pucker.

I press before sewing it on, but never after. However, after reading all the posts from the non-pressers on here, I'm going to give this a try on the quilt I'm working on now!
