I just press the binding before sewing it on the quilt :)

I pressed my binding religiously for years. Then about 2 years ago, I saw a youtube video where the person said they don't ever press their binding because one side needs a smidge more length than the other. So, I tried it on the very next quilt. Went perfectly. I haven't pressed binding since. Why do a step that is not needed? That said, if you are doing reversible binding (where one side is one color and the other side another), you do need to press that still.

By the way, I handsew the other side and use binder clips. When machine sewing the entire thing, I don't use any pins.

I too had seen the post about not ironing the binding and wondered how to do it. What someone said here on page one makes a lot of sense-basting the raw edges. Thanx. I can't wait to try it on my next binding project.
