I quilt a lot on Sundays. It's really the best day for me. No job to interfier with my relaxing quilting time.

Growing up, my grandmother didnt permit much of anything on Sunday. She always said, "if you sew on Sunday, the stitches will be taken out of your nose". I didnt understand it then and dont now. I believe that since it is "a day of rest" and most find quilting restful, it is fine. There are sure worse things you could be doing.

My Mom was a bit strange. She always said for every stitch you sew on Sunday, you will rip out with your nose. Not quite sure about this but she sure would not sew anything on sunday.

If I can get some free time on a Sunday, I certainly will quilt. I never understood the rest thing on Sundays. Families still need to be fed, babies still need to be cared for, as do the elderly and the ill. I think the Sunday day of rest idea only works for kids and married men.

I did a bit of research on that saying and "they say" it came from the NE part of the US. Were your mothers/grandmothers from New England?
