and is it ok to use ???
who makes it ??
found at sale over weekend.

suebee 09-28-2011 08:14 AM

Yep, I have one and I use it all the time. :)

Charlee 09-28-2011 08:14 AM

I have one...works great and I haven't had any problems with it so far, but I've only used the white and blue chalks...

pjk0326 09-28-2011 08:15 AM

I have that! I bought it for marking - liked the variety of colors. It's okay. It's just chalk so as hard to get out as regular chalk. I think it came with a sharpener too (or else I had one from something else and use it for that).

Hen3rietta 09-28-2011 08:15 AM

I have some myself from when I started quilting. I think they are made by Clover.

0tis 09-28-2011 08:15 AM

Yes, I have one too..Never had any problems with getting it out of the fabric.

ckcowl 09-28-2011 08:15 AM

are you talking about the chalk marker- or the chalkboard cloth?
i have one of the markers- and love it have been using it for 6 or 7 years now- all my friends think it's the greatest too--it is always close at hand.
as for is it ok to use??? guess it depends on what you want to use it for.
i use mine for all kinds of things. but if i'm going to mark a quilt for quilting with it i always test to make sure the color i'm thinking about using is going to come out- but i do that no matter what i plan to use...chalk, pencil, marker- what ever - if its somethhing i want to come out i check to make sure it's going to....i do not mark quilts for quilting very often- i use mine for marking diagonals on blocks--and lots of other things that are on the reverse side of the fabric-so it doesn't matter-
as far as i'm concerned not only is it ok to use- it's great to use---for the things i use it for.
i do not know who makes it- i bought mine from Clotilde's years ago

AFQSinc 09-28-2011 08:29 AM

I have the set. I had some problems removing the yellow from a fabric. I have also used the organge, the blue, the white, and the peach with no issues. Just be careful of the yellow.

Sassylass 09-28-2011 08:29 AM

I also have that one and yes it did come with a pencil sharpner.

  It is chalk.

Peckish 09-28-2011 09:13 AM

I have that set. Before I threw the packaging away, I made sure to write on the cover DO NOT IRON.

leatheflea 09-28-2011 09:22 AM

I have it and it didnt wash out of a purse that I made, the purse was mint green and gray, and the chalk I used was pink. I even scrubbed, soaked bleached and still it remains. Tossed mine in the trash.

wvdek 09-28-2011 09:29 AM

Oh wow! I had no idea this was available and have been looking for something like this for awhile.
Guess I better start saving for it.

the casual quilter 09-28-2011 09:33 AM

I have this and I use it. Haven't had any problems, but I haven't used the blue, green or yellow.

Fabaddict 09-28-2011 10:52 AM

yes I have one and love it. Use it all the time to mark stuff

DogHouseMom 09-28-2011 11:05 AM

I have it too. Have only used white and orange. The orange took some work to get it out completely. The white (used on black) came out easy. To remove it I used a clean dry tooth brush. The orange was hard to get out of the thread, and the holes where the thread punched (I used it to mark for quilting).

The other day I wanted to use it and I found the holder, but not my box of different colors. I think it must have eloped with my bi-fold mirror - can't find that either.

simplyme 09-28-2011 11:09 AM

I have then also, maybe made by Fons and Porter. I also use plain chalk and sharpen it. It is a lot cheaper.

ROFLMBO !!

kathyd 09-28-2011 11:46 AM

I have one as well. Use it to mark quilts. I've never had any problems with it.

The one that I purchased was not made by Clover. I don't have the packaging anymore but I purchased it from Joann. I saw that on their site they have them by a company called Allary. The reviews, by the way, are not good. I've seen them with the Bohin label and another well known brand as well. It seems like the company may be private labeling.

ann clare 09-28-2011 01:12 PM

Yes. I like it. Must admit that I have not used the yellow.

Bobbinchick 09-28-2011 01:13 PM

I have one, but lost the pen thing but still have the chalks and yes it comes with the sharper. I love it but need to buy another one as I lost the pen part of it. Huggies, Fay

true, i had a problem with yellow too. i had to use shout twice to get it out.

just throw the yellow away, that way you won't use it by mistake

jitkaau 09-29-2011 02:44 AM

I've got one and use it.

Yooper32 09-29-2011 03:12 AM

Mine like that is the Clover brand. Looks just like that. The orange is the one my daughter used when she was visiting and we found no way to get rid of the markings, so beware of the orange in addition to the yellow.

puppy 09-29-2011 03:12 AM

yes..i use mine all the time. got it at habcocks fabraics when the store closed on my city.

deedum 09-29-2011 03:17 AM

I have it and use it a lot. Bought mine at Hancocks at Padacuh, KY on my way home from a trip.

katz_n_kwiltz 09-29-2011 04:22 AM

yes, i recognize this tool, and LOVE IT!!
my lqs sells them, i think they are like 14.95 each.

Quilter Day-by-Day 09-29-2011 05:52 AM

I have one and it works great.

Edie 09-29-2011 06:12 AM

I have one and don't particularly care for it because as the pencil point wears down the drawing becomes wider. I personally like Fons and Porter. It is like a mechanical pencil and the point stays pointy!!! So, I have just set the other one aside for something else. Edie

LindaDeeter 09-29-2011 06:16 AM

This reminded me of a little pin & chalk marker I used to have years ago ... it was great for marking patterns, but I haven't been able to find one. It was a little pin on a holder and had a variety of tiny chalk refills ... I loved it but misplaced it and haven't found one since! Anybody know what I'm talking about?
