Just a thought - you could design a symbol ie a dog face or a flower etc that you put into the quilting on EVERY quilt that you make rather like that famous painter who always put a mouse in his pictures - can't remember his name now. I used to spend hurs looking for the mouse on his pictures.

ALWAYS - add date, city and state

Sorry I did the wrong thing. Still a newbe here.

I'd say "NO" to signing a quilt you sell, donate to fund raisers, etc. I DO sign/date those for family/friend keepsakes...
I'm currently making small (40X60 inch) lap blanket size quilts to donate to nursing homes and will NOT be signing them either. :) |
An artist puts his/her name on his painting before he sells it. Aren't our quilts a piece of art?? I would or ask the personI am making the quilt for if they want a label on it????
You could put on the label made by *****for ****date and name of the quilt. Good way to mark the quilt for the future or if it gets lost and is recovered :D |
i put a label on it for certain.

In later years the quilt will be more valuable if labeled with the maker's name, etc. Maybe you could hide it in the quilting, or along the binding edge. If you talk to an appraiser, you could then share with the buyer the appraiser's thoughts on you signing it.

I create a label for every quilt I make, be it one for myself or a customer. I have only one customer who asked me to remove it. Once I tell them why I have a label, most like the idea.

I do not always label my quilts, only because I am lazy. My grand daughter has some I wish I has added a label. When I sell one, I always label
title of quilt made by and date to from special reason, and any personal message the buyer would like on it. I type all this into word and print out on printable fabric. I would really like to get better and label ALL my quilts. |
