If so, what kind and where do I find them?

Shout, found in the detergent aisle at the grocery store.

Most fabric stores carry them and yes, I use them for any quilt that may have fabrics that will still bleed a little and I give some with every quilt I give away. Someone once told me that a square of 100 percent cotton will do the same thing. Have yet to try it.

Yes! I actually buy mine at the Navy Commissary where I do most of my grocery shopping.

I didn't use them until I heard about them on this forum. I found them at Wally's and now use them always. I wash my quilts when they are finished and I want to know if the colors are going to run. This group is the best for information.

I always use them if I think that there might be fabric dyes running. I also include a box with any quilting project that I give as a gift. Unfortunatley I haven't found them up here so I make a trip to WalMart in Ogdensburg when my supply runs low.

I use them occasionally in my laundry if I am unsure if something will bleed color. I use one everytime I wash a quilt. I don't want to take a chance of ruining all the hard work.

I find them with the laundry supplies at the grocery store and Walmart.

Yep, every time :D:D:D It is much less expensive that having a ruined quilt

Are they called dye catchers? Is there any particular brand.

There are a few brands. I use the Shout Color Catcher. It's in a small box with the typical Shout logo and is sold in the laundry soap aisle. They are less expensive than the ones at Joann's. I think I paid around $3 for a box of 24.
