I see the newness every time the weather becomes cooler. The bug I have for quilting is just as hungry as it was several years ago! I take a few months away from quilting because we have a huge vegetable garden where my energies are placed in growing our food. At these times of gardening, I make quilt tops in the evenings. My quilting begins as the months become cooler and all of the gardening is behind me. Every season, I consider myself a newbie - I brush up by reading these posts, scanning other sites for new ideas - I'm an artist with a passion for learning and creating.

Too many new patterns and new ideas and not enough time to do them all. I get excited with every new project and I love to see the finished project. It is just a big adventure. Sometimes it is like working a puzzle and I don't have to have a lot of gadgets to do it. I don't spend a lot of money on material. It is something I can do to keep from being bored. It is something I can do that doesn't hurt my back(except when I am pinning the front, batting, back together). It is just a lovely hobby.

I am still continuously in awe of all the talent that shows in quilts and have amazed myself because of some I've done. To me it's an accomplishment from my wish days of a small child wanting to learn to use my grandmothers' treadles which was a disaster due to the lack of eye, hand and foot coordination similar to the pat the head, rub the tummy and swirl the leg. I've gotten better and keep learning different things all the time. I still often feel like a newbie even at 66.
