Gracie - as others have said it is made with partial seams. THere are many YouTubes and tips on line. Here is Jinny Beyers link:

I made a quilt with this...from an older book, I think Love of Quilts. It was Oriental Star or Star of the Orient. Even though I was a very inexperienced quilter, and it was all from templates, and had rounds around it like a pineapple quilt block. Glad today's patterns are much more quilter friendly!! Good luck with it...
